Data from footywire. To check the draft order see the thread here.

Footywire says: "While we make every effort to keep up to date with player contracts, it is likely that our data may at times be out of date, incomplete or inaccurate. If you find any player contracts that need updating, please let us know using our brand new contract submission form."

We had 38 listed players, 2 Cat B and 6 Cat A rookies making a total 46 players at the start of the trade period.

Summary of who has left:

Swallow, Rosas, Ainsworth, Sexton, Lemmens, Berry, Flanders, Fiorini* and Budarick* - Main list

* Rumoured to be traded.

Johnston - Cat A rookie.

So we would have 29 main list, 2 Cat B rookies and 5 Cat A rookies if all goes to plan.

If we want to carry the extra Cat A rookie then we have a max 37 players on the main list. There we would have 8 player openings. These will be taken by the following:

Jamarra Ugle Hagan
Christian Petracca
Zeke Uwland
Dylan Patterson
Beau Addinsall
Koby Coulson
Jai Murray

One spare list spot.
Yeah I forgot Johnston was cat A

Flanders for a top 10 pick is daylight robbery.
Ainsworth was a cap dump. And they have better younger players who can develop in that position.
They have a lot of young talent that needs to start developing and getting games
Then getting Petracca in could push them to top 4 contending for a flag.
Sometimes you have to give a little to get a lot. It's similar to Brisbane around the time they landed Neale and let a few B/C graders go like Lewis Taylor, Tom Cutler, Ben Keays (mistake, in the end) etc. Petracca is a genuine A grader and the guys we're losing like Ainsworth, Rosas, Budarick are B graders at best. Flanders is probably the one guy that has the potential to become an A grader and we were well compensated for that with pick 7 coming our way. Then you add in the fact that we're going to land two top 10 picks from our academy. The only negative so far in this trade period is the Humphrey situation, but even that looks like he's going end up staying.

Bring in an A grader in Petracca. Bring in another potential A grader in JUH. Add another two top 10 picks via the draft and only lose a few B/C graders to make it happen. Sounds like a great off season to me!

How do you think that the Suns will get around the rule of having enough list spots available to equal the amount of picks that they have in the draft? Currently have 6 spots available but 7 picks in the draft and does that then limit them with trading future picks forward or trading out say pick 15 for more points with later picks.

They will split the picks once the draft starts, the picks = list spots rule doesn't apply then.

15 will likely go to North if they want to move up from 25. They can bundle 3 picks with us returning. 15 and a late pick gaining is 3-400 points

I think the Bombers would be more of a chance to trade into #15 imo with #21 + #30
But north might if they get back #52 and have a player they are in love with they think wont get there

Eagles get 15 as there last live pick of the draft instead of 34(which may come after a bid anyway) being so

Nothing involved with tigers. Tigers pick 5 post Dean and Annable bids
But if Eagles dont bid with 1 & 2 richmond have the next 2 picks and will bid for sure
you posted no bids on the first 4 picks

* sorry my bad i read it wrong its no bid on the 4 suns players

2. Dean (Match)
3. Annable (Match)
4. Robey
5. (Rich)

Plus ~900 points saved by pushing bids from 2 and 4 to 5 and 6 if maths correct

Plus theres the cascade effect, so will be more than 332 after bids
There is decent probability that Eagles could bid with pick 2 or Tigers with picks 3 and 4.

I suspect Suns will try to trade both picks 15 and 18 for extra points. Even more picks could be on offer.

The scenario above is with the side note of pushing any suns bid to at its earliest would be 5

I think the Suns would be very open to that depending on what bids are made by the Eagles and Tigers

Did a good job in their last pick Rort draft.

Will be interesting to see how they go next time they gave academy players at this level.

Just need to get better at hiding them when they are juniors ;)

Didn't work with Uwland as it was such a poor draft unfortunately.

They ended up blowing two drafts worth of picks plus traded in picks to pay for their kids.

Dont have much at all to match in 2026.

Suns didnt facilitate any pick upgrades with the Eagles and ended up paying a hefty price it seems.

With bid rules getting tighened even more this is the last academy rort draft for them or the Lions.

And that's fine, the club got the players they want.

Humphrey probably goes for a couple of firsts next year. Ben King is RFA which will be a monster contract if he leaves resulting in another first.

Don't worry about the Suns next year, they might even have a go at another clubs FS/NGA player AND match Archie Hill. Any WC NGA players we can repay the favour on for the Addinsall/Murray bids? :)
