BTW, has James Harmes become the new Duckwood?

I don't remember him playing for free's before, but every time he got it he was dropping his knees or shoulder to engage head high contact

Yep, saw the same thing but the frustrating thing was the umpire fell for it every time
Selwood came to mind straight away

Got a link to ABC grandstand?

I gave the daily AFL podcast a try this morning as I thought they’d at least acknowledge the deflection option, but instead just went with the generic We wAz RobBEd

Also that Fog should have been suspended for striking Lever in the back of the head
I Googled (Google is your friend) but couldn't find anything specific, sorry.
Another poster said that they sent the clip into Grandstand (thanks, whoever you are!).

Oh wow, just had a little looksee at the Demons next slate of games and they are running into a nasty little corridor of important games.

Dogs, Lions, Coll, Ess, GWS, Port. Could very easily see them dropping 5 out of 7 of mid season games (including ours).

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Brownlow votes all go to Melbourne players. Oliver was out of this world, and Gawn and Petracca could easily get the 2 and 1. I'm looking forward to see the coaches votes.

3 players out of Oliver, Gawn, Petracca, Seedsman, Laird, Keays and hell, even Tex, are going to walk away with 0 which is harsh. Meanwhile 3 people from the Port V Collingwood shitfight will outscore them.

I thought he tried a fend off which should have been prior, regardless of the ruck contest.
Arguable fend off but I'm ok with it not being paid with no prior (under current rules). They could argue he braced for contact more than fended off.

theyll be fine I reckon.

No. On the camera angle that was showed on channel 7 Adelaide news there is no doubt whatsoever that he touched it. It is as clear as day. If you can see this angle for yourself I'm sure you'd agree. This was shown not shown during the live telecast. I can understand people thinking it was deliberate OOB from the footage we all saw live.
From The Age (Melbourne newspaper):
" Footage aired on Fox Footy showed the Murray handball deflected off Charlie Spargo's hand before rolling out of bounds. ".

The end, surely?

The journalist who penned that article is currently at the bottom of the Yarra, rolled up in a carpet

Bottom line is if they called deliberate OOB on a footy that was deflected off Spargo's hand (which it did), then it calls into question every smothered kick or partially intercepted handpass that goes out of bounds as a result, and the AFL will never allow that.

The umpires got it right on the night because they had a good vantage point to see there was a high potential for this to be a factor (Spargo crashing into his hands and the footy as he attempted to execute the handpass). In the end they couldn't be 100% certain it didn't and therefore the result has to be 'Ball-in'.

This issue was officially dead the millisecond there was footage of it being deflected. At that point it no longer mattered where it went, or whether there was a Crow within sheep stations of it, all that matters is it deflected off a Demons player.

Case closed, end of story!

So Jon Ralph is actually saying despite Spargo being the last person to touch the ball, it should still have been penalised:

" The AFL is expected to concede on Monday Nick Murray should have been penalised for his decision to handball directly to the boundary in the last moments of Adelaide’s epic victory...

...Melbourne’s Charlie Spargo was pressuring Murray and may have slightly deflected the ball but Murray had to make intent to keep the ball in so would still have been penalised."

This just defies logic and reason on so many levels. How do clowns like this get license from their editors to 'print' this shit?

Neil Craig cops some stick but two things he said ring true

1. If you lose or win by less than 2 goals there’s luck involved. I’m glad we were on the right side of that luck for once.

2. Worry about fixing the mistakes you make before you worry about the mistakes the umpires make

Add them together: get over it Melbourne

Need to sell subscriptions to angry Demons fans, couldn't care less about facts

Thats very sensible actually, just like Craigy

Keays wrap up of him was critical at that moment. What a valuable player he’s become
Super heads up play from Benny.

Gawn took that and was 100% about to wheel around to lay it on his boot when a chest full of Keays slammed into him. He's 1 step slow there and that balls sailing towards goal.

I think he committed to laying that tackle before it left the umpires hands (he actually let Petracca go free to lay it)!

Or this "handpass" from Oliver that led directly to a goal.

It's even got the rugby spiral spin to it. If you're going to argue Spargo never touched the OOB then you can't claim Olly has got anywhere near this with his fist.
