Well, he's as good as off, he's contesting the charge:

Sydney's Adam Goodes has decided to contest a striking charge at the AFL Tribunal

Source

He'll get off because the AFL are trying to gift the Swans as many Premierships as possible. I don't quite know why they report Swans players in the first place given their aims, some kind of elaborate ruse to throw Victorians off the scent I suppose. But it's all good, he's free to play!

He deserves to get off anyway. What was his opponent doing following him around with his head at sphincter height anyway? Oh hang on, they were playing Port I guess...

Consider it a win for football.

The AFL likes to have the best player in the competition running around. The Duel Brownlow medalist is exactly that.

That will be crap if he gets off. Didnt realise that swans were endangered species. How many times did he get off last year. He can kiss his consecutive games good-bye!

Goodes is the best player in the competition? Who did he have to 'duel' to get that title?

Weak.

I suppose that's all you have though, considering your mob lost the only thing it had going for it when he left for Carlton. I don't blame him either.

DUAL Brownlow Medallist Adam Goodes has been given the chance to equal Sydney's consecutive games record streak after beating a striking charge at the AFL Tribunal.

...

Video evidence played to the tribunal was inconclusive as to whether Goodes made contact to Thomas with his arm.

Never a doubt in my mind.

Just keep getting Barry Hall off blatant charges in Grand final week

Keep pumping concessions into Sydney and Brisbane

Do everything you can to prop up these clubs in rugby states at the expense of the clubs that built this competition

Goodes is most definitely a protected species, but anyone from Sydney would've got off (just ask Barry Hall).

Chris Judd is right up there as well.

The AFL is determined not to take their poster boys out of the game. Judd being symbolic of the modern day athlete/footballer, whilst Goodes in a similar light is the indigenous icon of today's game.

If a 'no-name' player was up on the same charge as Goodes, I've little doubt he would've been rubbed out.

Spot on. One of the most gutless things I have ever seen on a football field when he punched Godfrey in the lower back last year.

what a f****** joke.

that little scumbag hits at least 1 person every week and still gets away with it.

and Sydney fans reckon Riewoldt is a protected species

Add Goodes to the protected list now.

West Coast captain and Brownlow medallist Chris Judd is on the list to be granted special protection from taggers by the umpires this season. So is Port Adelaide midfielder Shaun Burgoyne, Adelaide halfback Andrew McLeod, Brownlow medallists Robert Harvey and Simon Black, West Coast midfielder Daniel Kerr, Kangaroos goal-hunter Brent Harvey and Geelong forward Gary Ablett Jr.
Even 19-year-old Collingwood rising star Dale Thomas, who has barely been in the AFL long enough for a cup of coffee to go cold, is now considered a protected species.
But not Swans dual Brownlow medallist Adam Goodes – despite the fact defenders wear him like a glove.

Protected species indeed. Can't help but think Campbell Brown would have got 3 for that. And whilst I don't even like the Hawks, I can relate to the frustration associated with such injustice.

Nah, Campbell Brown would've sworn black & blue that there was absolutely no contact.

It was a disgrace he got off .
So was Hall's decision when he played that grand final .
Sydney are well loved by the officials .:thumbsd:
We all saw the hits .

What did you expect, they already gifted him a second Brownlow he didn't deserve now it's the consecutive games record their trying to get him to.

What's next? He does not have a norm smith yet.
