Sent out a little finals invitation in the last quarter of yesterdays game (BYOB) - bring your own boo-yah!

What a superstar! Continues to be underrated by opposition fans and our supporters as well. Rarely mentioned in the top 5 players in the comp. Has been doing it consistently since 2003 and off and on in the few years previous. I think this year in particular he has closed the gap between his best and worst games and he has always been pretty harshly marked on his worst games anyways.

Surely must be close to the greatest syd/sth melb player ever.

Totally agree, if he isn't our best ever player, he comes mighty close to it. We would have been lost plenty of times without him.

When he's on we're on. When he's not on, we're often not also. I'd easily say his best is the best in the competition and his worst isn't as bad as some woul dhave you believe. He certainly is unique and exciting. A fantastic player to watch in full flight for sure. Also does the extra stuff (off the ball) just as well. Going to be a massive massive hole to fill when he finally hangs up the boots. But until then I'm going to enjoy watching him no matter where on the ladder we are.

His good, does a lot for the team and his probably one of the top players and people criticism him a lot because they expect more of him. Team player and takes care of the youth coming in.

Even at his worst he's still good, its more a case of you know he can do so much more that its a shame when he has a quiet game.

I think its important that we appreciate everything he does for us cos he won't be with us forever, its truly going to be a sad day when he hangs up the boots.

Guys. Don't be silly.

Our goodes is good, but their betts is better!!!

Lmao that never gets old.

It's such an honour to be able to see Goodes do his thing for the Swans week after week. I'm a huge fan and even I think I take it for granted sometimes, he's just that good that you always expect it.

I remember at the Sydney v Richmond game my two cousins talking trash about Goodsey how he is past it. Then he gets two meters in the air and the crowd errupts.

I didnt really need to say a thing, but I did. I turned, look at them and say. "Really..."

Once in a lifetime player. Going to be extremely hard to replace, will be missed when he retires.

From what i have seen in recent weeks i don't think we will have to worry about Goodes retiring for a few years yet. He still has more pace than 90% of AFL players and i don't remember the last time he had a serious injury.

Honestly i think Goodes has the chance of reaching the 350 game mark if his amazing run of no injuries continues.

Hopeso! Everything seems to come naturally to Goodes i reckon, it's hard to explain for me, but it's like he doesn't need to put in 100% to get the better of players. At times he looks laconic in his movement but at the same time, very graceful- and he still dominates. He's a freak. :p

I'm hoping he is pushing 400 games before his career is out. :p

350 games would be so sweet. He deserves it. How cool that our two most capped players will be indigenous.

Think it was 1999. Stafford injured and Goodes up against Corey McKernan giving away height, weight and so much experience. Swans down massively but Goodes efforts were stellar. Leapt so high he cracked his wrist on one landing. Swans staged a mighty comeback to sneak a win. Goodes gets rising star nomination and throws up violently on the way home. Those who saw it were in no doubt he was our future champion.

Was that the game we were down 50-odd points at one stage, but came back to win??? I think Stuey Maxfield kicked the goal to put us in front. I thought it was a year or two later than that but I know Stafford had to be replaced early in the game and I thought we were gone, but Goodes stood tall.

Goodes is a remarkable physical specimen; very big bloke who's obviously had injuries, particularly to knees, yet he retains the ability to stand on blokes' heads to mark, he can outsprint some of the fastest players around and he has amazing stamina.

And he's what, 31?

I'd be curious to know what kind of responses would come if a thread were started on the main board: Goodes v Kouta. The Carlton champ is the first bloke I thought of trying to find a player with similar attributes to Goodes.

That was the game. Don't recall the Maxfield goal but I'd guess it was 60+ metres on the run off that superb left foot. Used to love how he and Schwass didn't even bother going inside 50 to slot them. We don't really have those types of players anymore, at least not anyone who can do it consistently. I guess they knew that if it dropped short Plugger would mark it anyway.

Would love to see Goodes win another Charlie

The thing I remember most about that game is Kelly's goal after shrugging off about 56 opponents.

Saw that but didn't connect that it was the same game (my youth is a haze of mashed memories). We were the comeback kings back then
