Toast Goodes

He's the guest on On The Couch so I'll definitley be watching (unless it's at the same time as the Brownlow count?)

The interesting thing is the ad for OtC is talking him up as the favourite to win his third Brownlow, which is a bit odd, unless the odds have changed lately?

I just accidentally put 100 on Goodes each way for the brownlow.

Really hoping he gets up now!

WTF is 'each way' for the brownlow? Top 3 finish?

It is almost blasphemous for me to say this, but I'd lay good odds on Goodes not winning the Brownlow. His slow start puts him at a great disadvantage and I don't think his finish is as strong as some are making out. He will probably finish 5-6 votes behind the winner, Scott Pendlebury.

unfortunately i think this is probably true, as I just don't think he would of polled enough votes at the start of the season. I think everyone's just getting carried away with his last few games which has catapulted him into second favouritism

I tend to agree. Every year there seems to be someone that storms home and gets elevated into the top few which the bookies probably love. If you reversed the season Goodes would most likely be about 5th-6th favorite.

You never know with the umpires though. What they see and what we see can be very different things.

OTC is on at 7.30 tonight. I think the Count coverage starts at like 8.15 with the actual tallying of votes starting at 8.30. Something like that, so I imagine we'll be able to see Goodesy then turn straight over to the count.
If it finishes at 8:30 and the count starts at 8:30 doesn't that mean Goodes will be late for the count?

jokes.

Agree with Grim. I'd be pleasently surprised if Goodes won. He might not even finish in the top 6/7. Judd/Murphy/Pendlebury/Swan/Boyd/Mitchell etc. could all finish ahead of him.

Judd & Murphy will poll well but you will find many votes will be split between them.
Pendles and Swans have Thomas and Cloke to contend with as well, don't plan on seeing many as predicted from them.
Boyd will do very well tonight, Mitchell will do well as well but was suspended and no threat.
Goodes v Boyd I believe it will be. If Goodes can stay close to the top before the halfway mark of the season then I believe he will win with a strong last half.

well thought out!! :D

Judd and Goodes both polled less than expected but I think the really unlucky one is Marc Murphy. Polled plenty of 1's and 2's and just couldn't get enough 3's to contest. Swap some of those 1's to 3's and he'd have been right in there.

I'm glad Mitchell didn't get the most votes, that would have been horrible for him to miss on such a shitty ruling by the MRP.

Yeah, they really need to either just scrap the fairest part or change the criteria so it's in line with the BS changes regarding suspensions. 30 years ago a one week suspension generally meant you'd punched someone in the face or knocked them out cold by running off the line and taking them out. These days you get a week for anything.

Either make it 3 games or just get rid of it.

You know, between his first game in the first round of 1999 and now, Sydney have played 306 games. Goodes has played in 300 of them. He did not miss a single game between Round 19 1999 and Round 14 2008. Only a freak of nature could manage such things, the man defies belief.

Hope he plays on another six years and breaks Tuck's record. Absolute champion of the game and one of my very favourites.

It's particularly pleasant that non Swans supporters can see what a gentleman Goodes is off field. He speaks very well & is well measured when replying to questions. He is a genuine nice guy that has the utmost respect for his co players in this competition.

I've no doubt that he will continue in the AFL in some capacity, long after he has retired.

As a Swans supporter, I appreciate reading your kind words Gladbags & Dos23.:thumbsu:

Seconded, Ted. He may seem a little petulant on the field at times (or at least he may have over his career), but gentleman is the perfect word to describe Adam Goodes. Well-mannered, well-spoken, humble and just a seemingly lovely person. All that to go with his outlandish talent, durability and nearly unmatched career.

True champion of the game and our club.

Just saw the great man on Footy Classified and I applauded the tv at the end..

sorry but thats just weird...:p

Goodes just won the Indigenous Player of the year(was a certainty), when asked how long he could go on his answer was, "another two in the midfield, then 5 or 6 up forward kicking goals" :)

Champion!

GOODSEY! he played like a man possesed in the essendon game at telstra dome, absolutely tore the match to shreds.. and only got 2 votes for brownlow.

A superstar on and off the field.

I downloaded it during the week (we don't get it in Sydney) and watched it over the weekend.

He was quite brilliant, wasn't he?

Footy shows must love him, they just ask a question and he delivers a great answer with minimum um's and ah's and fully answers everything without the panel prompting him, which happens to most guests when they lose track.

Great ambassador...
