Victoria Legal Aid (VLA) is an independent statutory authority set up to provide legal aid in the most effective, economic and efficient manner.

VLA is the biggest legal service in Victoria, providing legal information, education and advice for all Victorians.

We fund legal representation for people who meet eligibility criteria based on their financial situation, the nature and seriousness of their problem and their individual circumstances. We provide lawyers on duty in most courts and tribunals in Victoria.

Our clients are often people who are socially and economically isolated from society; people with a disability or mental illness, children, the elderly, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and those who live in remote areas. VLA can help people with legal problems about criminal matters, family breakdown, child protection and family violence, immigration, social security, mental health, discrimination, guardianship and administration, tenancy and debt.

See Danny your ignorance is showing there - if you got into a fight when you were pissed it would not meet the "nature and seriousness" critereon - these days anything below an ag burg and you are on your own. If you have ever seen an unrepresented litigant in a family law or criminal proceeding you would know they unneccessarily clog up judges for Gina Rineharts fully paid frivolities against her children and TV networks

Good work. A Gina Rinehart reference and all.

Don't outdo yourself.

It's not racist, it's a fact. But facts don't seem to matter much to you lot.
But when you say its a fact, what exactly are you basing that on? Do you have some data that supports your claim, or is it just a hunch you have?

Little known fact.

The last minister to be censured successfully was former minister for Defence, David Johnston, just last year.

Safe to say that on the record of that, Brandis might need to look at the backbench.

Being censured is a function of the numbers in the senate not relative historical performance compared to others

If you say so. It's generally used by those who have effed up (drunk??) and clog up the courts.

Or those in remote communities who fiddle with their kids.
ROFL.
You're *in Roads Scholar obviously.
The stupidest of the stupid.

Rhodes. Stupid.
ROFL
I wrote "roads" and I meant "roads".
Meant as a response to an asinine post.
A thoroughly accurate description of your intellect or lack of.

With the changes to the metadata, is snail mail back in vogue? Sure will help Australia Post.
They intercept snail mail too.
Cops used to sit in my office and open all Eastman's mail, before resealing it and giving it back to the Postie, while they were investigating him.
Common practice even now I would venture.

I thought he couldn't get anymore dastardly.

Brandis to introduce site blocking legislation this week

Updated: ISPs not consulted.

The federal government plans to introduce legislation this week allowing content owners to apply for court orders to force internet service providers to block overseas file-sharing websites.

He wants ISPs to hand over details of alleged pirates without a court order.

Wouldn't mind so much if he managed to get prices down on software and made TV shows more readily accessible, e.g. Adobe Photoshop, Itunes, Microsoft etc, but he is giving away all bargaining power.

Wasn't this a three strike policy, You don't get your details handed over to get sued till after you get two notices? The ALP agreed to this

Anyway I can t imagine the ISP's are going to go to any length to police this as its a cost to them without a return. They will do the bare minimum

Different From labors three strikes. The handing over of details arent voluntary but on demand.

As for the site blocking it is an awful idea widely rejected by voters..
