The coalition will never win the federal government again.

Savva wised up about Morrison quicker than most but she conveniently ignores her own role in creating the circumstances within the Liberal Party that allowed an already three times loser, Tourism Australia, NZ and his initial pre-selection like Morrison become Prime Minister.

We'd all be much better off if the media focused on what government's actual job is and how they're performing it... in terms of the service the public is receiving.. rather than frigging themselves off full time about the soap opera of politics.

They're part of the problem.

The media do precisely what they are paid to do - represent the views and present the agenda of their owners.

The neoliberalist policies that led to depleted good economic and living opportunities such as

  • replacement in full time jobs with unstable casual and part time jobs
  • depleted opportunities for uni graduates and those with non uni qualifications
  • the concept of working for free or in temp jobs just to earn your stripes for the right to pay your bills
  • substantially increased fees for all forms of tertiary study
  • the quintessential need to own your own home coming out of reach

These have hit millenials and gen x negatively a lot more than previous generations.

It is going to set the Coalition back a few terms as these demographics become the majority as there's soon going to be a new generation of 40 year olds that are worse off than their parents and are still living like 21 year olds due to hardship.

This is a huge issue but I don't think any one side of politics is to blame here but poor governance over a long period of time:

  • employers have decentralised due to technology and globalisation but also to escape ridiculous union and IR laws
  • but full time jobs are essential as banks won't lend unless there is stability

  • universities are now businesses selling worthless degrees and lower quality outcomes
  • there are too many educated but unskilled graduates
  • phd students working at unis are just cheap labour selling over priced poor quality services
  • the government subsidises these poor quality services through R&D grants

  • increased housing density and zoning has resulted in increased housing prices for lower quality products
  • technology means decentralisation is possible and nation building and regional development should be favoured over stacking people on top of each other

If we lower our energy cost and return to a price delivering a competitive advantage in Oz, will see increased opportunities. This will take courage that goes beyond the capability of politics.

In her defence I have heard Savva apologise for her part in "allowing" Morrison.
It's an apology that appears in the opening to her book and one she has repeated and extended in every major interview since.

A lot of people make poor judgements - very few of them have the guts to owned up to them. Especially not someone who served as a high level political staffer to a former PM.

As she has aged and mellowed Savva has made no secret of her regret for the role she played not just in the rise of Morrison but cover for others in the far right of the party and the downfall of the moderates like Turnbull. She famously resigned from the Australian when Peta Credlin joined that Papers editorial team.

Looking forward and correcting errors of judgement and atoning for them deserves credit. Especially when the journo concerned calls out her fellow journos with excellent lines like this:

Feel free to ignore her latest book writing effort because you are aggrieved by her past role and apparent hypocrisy.

But you are missing out on an excellent and rapier like thrust into the heart of conservative politics.

Pretty much any leader they have. Would having Susan Ley as leader make them more appealing?

Only one would be Bridget Archer, I'd they do a full cleanout
Put it this way. When Labor beat the liberals In that 2022 federal election. It was just a win, not a thashing or a landslide. It was just a win.

As most people said, Frydenberg losing his seat in that election, did hurt the liberals.

Had Frydenberg won his liberal seat in the 2022 federal election, he would of been the most suitable liberal leader for at least until the 2025 election.

But yeah having a lady as a liberal leader could win some voters back
