Haven't really posted much lately, so I thought I'd make it a good one...

I'm not going to directly link to the mp3, since if you actually truly like good music and are interested in finding new stuff that you have never heard ever before, then you owe it to yourselves to have a look around the site.

This is particularly for those who like the heavier side of music....

Go to:

http://www.dogsonacid.com/showthread.php?threadid=326153&mode=article

Download the Noisia mix. (it's free....the link is just before where the actual thread starts.....it's a 40-odd minute mix.....keep in mind it's only a medium-quality mp3.....still sounds fantastic though.....imagine how good the vinyl sounds. ;) )

Listen. Preferably loudly through a good stereo or headphones. Crappy PC speakers will not do it any justice at all. (and drinks, spliff, or weapon of choice certainly won't hurt either, although certainly not required)

Scream "holy shhit this is some of the most amazing music I've ever heard!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Become an instant drum n bass convert. (or at least a Noisia convert!)

For those who don't know, DogsOnAcid.com is the biggest drum n bass website/webforum in the world. Drum n bass is the best and most interesting music in the world. (in my completely correct opinion :D )

....and Noisia are 3 guys from Holland who happen to be arguably the greatest thing to happen to dance music (and all kinds of electronic music) for years. (in many peoples opinion....not just mine!) They are pushing electronic music production beyond all boundaries at the moment. (and for those who believe electronic/dance music consists of just pressing a few buttons, then I guarantee you that one listen to this mix will convince you how wrong you have been.)

For those here who like the more heavy side of music, then you absolutely HAVE to check it out. And I'm not talking ridiculously over-the-top heavy stuff....just heavy.....although some of it is certainly heavier than ANYTHING I've heard from any rock/metal band for years....and probably ever.

eg. if you're a System Of A Down fan, then I reckon you might like Noisia. Not that they sound AT ALL similar of course, but they are maybe similar in the sense that they've both taken an arguably stale sound, and made it sound fresh again.....although Noisia are far ahead of SOAD (and just about everybody else) when it comes to pushing boundaries that have never been touched before.... in any genre of music. Noisia are really taking it to the next level.

If you're not so into the heavy stuff, then honestly, you probably won't get into it. (but then, if you like extremely intense dance music, then you probably will!)

It's heavy, funky, dirty, insanely creative and technically perfect drum n bass.

The reason I post this is because I'm sure that most people around here would never have heard it (or possibly anything like it!) ever before, and I'm sure some of you will absolutely love it. (Noisia have really only taken off this year, and I only found them 6 months ago myself)

And for the record, I don't particularly like the first very track in that mix....(although others love it) ....I reckon the good stuff starts at about 6:00mins onwards.....check out the "Kung-Fu" track "Moonway Renegade" which is about 20-odd minutes in....maybe 22-23mins in, I can't remember......you can't miss it....it contains the kung-fu samples....and the voice sample "Now my little friend.....you have come to the place.....where you will finally DIE!"

It's an amazing piece of music.

Just sharing the love, since I always see people around here complaining about how crap music is today.......

Well, here's your chance to hear something completely different.

Actually, there are really 2 reasons I'm bothering to do this:

a) As I said, I know that probably 99.9% of you guys (if not all of you!) have never heard of Noisia before, and I know that there has got to be some people around here who will absolutely love it....

and

b) I'm honestly curious to see what people who have never heard of Noisia before actually think of it. I've been playing and producing all kinds of music for years, and I think it's some of the most amazing stuff I've ever heard.

As I said though, it's probably more for those of you who don't mind the heavier (or intense) side of music.

(oh, Carlos and Macca - you're about to recieve a PM!)

So not ONE person is even interested in hearing some amazing music with production that's pushing the boundaries of electronic music into new heights?

I'm disappointed, although not all that surprised to be honest.

And then, you all wonder why the mainstream charts and mainstream music as a whole is so cluttered with boring, stale, and uninspired poo.

Hey - if that's all people are interested in, then the major record labels will continue to serve it up to you in truckloads.....and you'll al continue to complain about 99% of it.

Perhaps if people opened their minds a little and gave something different a chance, you'd actually have more to talk about in regards to music than such pointless and ridiculous things as another 5 billion "best guitarist" threads, or "funny song lyrics"....etc etc etc.

:(

A couple of mouse clicks and you could potentially be listening to music that could open up another whole world to you.

In fact, the only way I could make it any easier for people is if I rocked up to your front doors and served you cd's on a plate.

Oh well, I tried.

Let there never be another complaint about the state of the music industry on this board ever again.

Well, you might think it's the best thing since sliced bread, but maybe other people aren't all that interested in listening to electronic music. Just a thought. ;)

I downloaded it, and have listened to about 9 minutes of it, but have been too busy to give it a real go yet. Burned it to CD and lent it to a mate to listen to as well.

Early impressions have me linking it to Aphex Twin, but that is the view of a non-electronica person, so may sound silly to you.

Not as silly as not giving it a chance just because it's "electronic", and then complaining about the state of the music industry. ;)

I can see what you're saying with the Aphex Twin comparison.....crazy editing etc......but I find Noisia to be (obviously, being straight drum n bass) far more groove-driven than Aphex Twin.......and a lot straighter and totally danceable. As a producer though, I still find myself listening to Noisia thinking "how the f*** did they do that!?!?!"......but never, unlike Aphex Twin imo, does the editing and trickery get in the way of the track, or the groove.

Good for you for giving it a shot. I hope you enjoy it, and possibly (if you haven't already - I don't know!) discover another whole side to music, just as I have this year.

(and make sure you check out "Moonway Renegade"....I checked and it starts at around 22:20sec and drops at 23:00min in.... some HEAVY HEAVY stuff right there....!!)

It's hard to fall in love with something you don't know anything about.

Just a thought.

You're obviously passionate about it - good for you. But don't let the fact that others aren't interested in it get up your nose. Does it really matter to you?

Because im still 10 years behind everybody else and on dialup at home I havent finished downloading it yet. Ill give my views when I finally get to listen to it

Just listened to the opening track. Pretty nice. Nothing ground breaking yet tho...but that bassline is damn heavy.

The drums is Aphex Twin-ish but APhex is more ********ed up than that.

My goal next year in music is to get into drum n bass, so I guess this is a start. All my workmates are into it, so I'll give this a whirl.

It's so stupid that I get into certain things purely because of bigfooty.... :D

www.dogsonacid.com

All you ever need to know about good drum n bass.

There's a heap of mixes there (that's where I got the Noisia one from obviously) ....the Klute mix is very cool too. Depends what styles you're into i guess.

Clips of new tracks posted every day....too much release info to ever keep track of.....you really don't need to know anything else if you're getting into dnb.....it's all on DogsOnAcid.....and the main forum is a classic too.

If you're getting into the production side of it, check out "The Grid." (the "other" forum on DOA) ....lots of producers post there....some good, many crap, but The Grid is really the dnb production bible. :thumbsu:
