Grand Final ... Day Or Night Game

After the NRL went to night for their Grand Final, just wondering what people's opinions are about it.


I know the AFL have said they may try it in the next 5 years.

I'm really not sure, maybe a game starting at 5-6 would be good, get the first half while still light. Then the 2nd half starts and would be under lights, I reackon that would be cool.


ONE OTHER THING. why don't the AFL schedule games so they don't run into each other. I know that some games have to but why have 3 say at 2pm. Why not have one starting at 1, another at 4 and another at 7.

Keep it in the day. I like going to the football in the sunlight and there's nothing like a warm September day.

Also, in September nights often get cold and dew can fall on the grass. That wouldn't be the ideal surface for the biggest game of the year.(People slipping over more etc).

Ratings are the only reason the AFL wants the Grand Final moved to night. However, Saturday night is the worst ratings night of the week. They would only get better ratings on Sunday night but moving the GF to Sunday is a big no-no.

Keep it the way it is - the only reason they want it changed is ratings and the AFL's seeming endless fascination with fireworks.

Will be interesting in the next few years though - I reckon the new consortium will be putting pressure on the AFL to move the GF to night to get their money's worth.
