ok , how about a famous player figure at the Dogs who had an affair with a teammates players partner. He the famous player was allowed to stay at the club and the player whose partner had the affair was not given an extension at the club .. he wasnt as good a player as the famous player .Thats not a good culture , is it ? I know their names.

That's much worse than injecting players with substances for which no proper clinical testing has been undertaken, then not keeping a record of who was injected with what & potentially exposing the players to long term health issues.

Time for a reality check. What took place at the EFC is without a doubt the worst behaviour ever undertaken by a VFL/AFL club in the 117 season history of the competition, hence why the following are no longer at the club either permanently or at least in the short term:

Dank - sacked
Hamilton - resigned
Robson - resigned
Evans - resigned
Robinson - resigned
Corcoran - suspended
Hird - suspended

On top of these individuals, Thompson is contemplating his future & Reid is still to have the charges against him heard, pending the outcome of his court action.

Yet we can all understand how one player having an affair with a teammate's partner far outweighs the seriousness of the doping program at the EFC.

Demetriou on Footy Classified ch 7 last night the 9th September 2013 when he was told what Greg Swan had said , Demetriou stated Essendon DID NOT CHEAT , they bought the game into disrepute.

You are close....

He actually said "it hasn't been proven that Essendon have cheated", but has noted previously that the ASADA investigation is not complete and is ongoing and has also mentioned that Essendon cant tell them what was given to their players which is part of the findings that seen them charged with bringing the game into disrepute.

Try not to twist things to make it sound like Essendon are innocent.

Hey has any other club here had a scandal where the federal government called the "Australian CRIME COMMISSION" named their club during a press conference on drugs and it's association with organised crime... and another external organisation called WADA/ASADA that has banned the likes of Lance Armstrong and have more powers than the AFL... investigating them for nearly 12 months with the view to sacking 70% of their playing list? Personally hate Carlton with a passion for the daylight robbery they inflicted on co-tennants at Princes Park, also will say they have cheated in the past something that the club does admit. The difference for me is that Carlton got belted by the AFL, in comparisson Essendon has got a slap on the wrist and told they were naughty boys.

The AFL have been consistent in their message "no one at the club set out to cheat".

This statement means that they absolutely cheated. The spin is that they didn't 'set out' to cheat.

It's a bit like playing Monopoly when you are the banker, things are going a little tough so you pinch $100 here and there. You never started the game setting out to cheat, but as things progress you keep doing it anyway. That is the AFL's version anyway.

The real version is that Hird, Corcoran and co all set out to cheat from the outset, they were buying their PEDs from a convicted drug dealer that Hird had known for years. They took things off site, they tried to use various 'loopholes' with compounding chemists, the AFL had warned hird off peptides, they ignored documents from the club doctor, they made up stories about ASADA giving permission.

Essendon = drug cheats.

No questions about it.

Considering your very own Bomber Thompson admitted the club still has 'no idea' what the players were given, I admire your confidence that your club did not inject any performance enhancing substances into their players.

Greg Swan shares a belief that the majority of the AFL world do. Whether its the fans or the clubs themselves (Sydney seem to have lost all respect for your organization) there is no doubting that you will forever be labelled as drug cheats.

You can argue all day about it, ignore facts that have come straight from the AFL or your club, but at the end of the day the reputation of the Essendon football club is forever tarnished and you will just have to accept the fact that so many people see you as drug cheats.

I haven't targeted anyone specifically, but no, considering we've got insignificant internet warrior after insignificant internet warrior labelling a club/official/player drug cheats despite the two bodies most able to pass judgement on that failing to do so I don't think it's uncalled for at all.

It's pretty simple really, we've either got people that can't read, or a desperate for positive reinforcement of their own beliefs - either way 'the mob' as it were are severely lacking in grey matter.

Can we have a discussion? Sure, more than happy to with people that actually want to discuss it. But slurred statements along the lines of "Bummers are drug cheats derrrrr", with all released findings indicating otherwise thus far isn't a discussion - it's bitter and simple people lashing out because they haven't got the result they wanted yet.

The issue Lance is that clubs are all making these kinds of statements, meaning EFC is absolutely out on a limb. The club has lost the respect of the entire football community save a portion of the EFC supporter base. You can say you don't care about that too, but I won't believe you.

Lance can speak for himself, but I certainly could not care less what any other club thought about Essendon.

Considering a decent chunk of them live off the revenue we (and several others) generate I do fiund it somewhat ironic though.

I do however care what the supporter base thinks; and thus far our membership and attendance have been very good - so it appears that by and large the base seems to be right behind the club.
