Re: Griffen the Forward

The website has him down at 90kg - he wouldn't be much more than that. Definitely needs another 10kg to hold his own at boundary throw-ins.

Once he puts on that beef, he could be anything. :thumbsu: :)

I have got about ten kilos I don't want to be carrying these days who can have. :o :)

He wasvery good on Saturday. He is just so athletic for a big man that it is very hard to match up on him. He has the height, speed and leap to be a good ruckman and Forward. Reminds me a bit of Brad Ottens.

Re: Griffen the Forward

I agree. If you have a 200cm type who can play predominately as a forward they are almost impossible to match up on - ie P Salmon. The opposition either has to play 3 ruckman or use one of their first choice 2 ruckman to play as a backman, a position they wouldn't be accustomed too. Either way, it's a win-win for us.

I think Griffen has the mobility to play predominately as a forward, more so than our other young ruckman in Maric and Meesen.

The couple of times Griffin has been up forward he's been very, very impressive, and the early career of Paul Salmon crossed my mind too - he's almost a natural as a very tall forward right now, and he can grow into more of the ruck duties as he fills out & becomes more experienced. That said, his rapid improvement in rucking since the Port preseason game is remarkable already.:thumbsu:

As a very young player I'd almost expect him to be a little banged up by about mid-season, but by that stage hopefully Maric will be back in full swing and give him a bit of a break in ruck duties. In the short term I can see him being very damaging as a power forward and doing the occasional ruck, and slowly reversing that around in what's hopefully a very long career for us.:)

Ive got about a kilo & a half around 6am every morning:thumbsu:

Griffin will be a rising star nominee before long.

I hope Griffo starts up forward - first bounce today; just to unsettle Danihers thinking.

With the wide expanses of the MCG on offer Im hopin Griffo kicks 5

Weather might put pay to his chances. I think it's meant to be pretty wet.

Edit: Just checked then and the outlook is far more promising than it was yesterday.
