Promising young Richmond defender Dylan Grimes had surgery today at the Epworth Hospital to repair an injured hamstring tendon suffered in last Saturday night’s Dreamtime at the ‘G clash with Essendon.
He will spend an extended period of time on the sidelines while he recovers from the injury.
“Dylan’s injury is similar in nature to those suffered by Josh Gibson and Nick Riewoldt recently, and the surgery was performed by the same surgeon,” said Richmond Elite Performance Manager Matt Horsnby.

Hope he comes back bigger and better. Also now is the chance for someone like Astbury or Post to step up and fill the void.

Damn it, Didnt know it was as bad as Riewoldt and Gibsons. Nothing on how long he will be out for though.

Wish him all the best wrap him up in cotton woll and only bring him back when he's 100% dont rush him to insure this is only a one off even if it means he's seasons over hope its just a one off. We still got more from him in his few games than what i thought we would get all year.

Reminds me of when thursty did his knee at about the same point in his career. Hopefully grimes continues to improve, rather than stagnating like thursty.

****, didn't think it was so bad as they originally said possibly only 3-4 weeks.

Hopefully he recovers quickly and well, he was playing some excellent footy. :thumbsu:

I wish him well, he's been so vital to getting the 3rd man up and how many times did we see himon the wing thumping the ball out of bounds or back were it came from, i have to say im devastated that the young bloke has suffered a 8-12 week injury

Terrible news. That's 2 KPDs out for the bulk of the year. Time for Astbury to step up and make CHB his own. Time for Gourdis to play for his career.

Crap this sucks because he was becoming our most important defender along with Rance.

All he needs to do now is get in the gym and put on 10kgs.....will be the perfect back then!

So he is gone for 8-12 weeks?

Geez, see you in 2012 Dustin Fletcher Jnr!

He went out in spectacular fashion though, that spoil on Hille was one of the best spoils I've ever seen.

Couldn't agree more, twas a ripper spoil, and an important one too :thumbsu:

Hope he recovers well, and it's a one off. I think his brother has suffered a couple of soft tissue injuries as well.

that sucks has been very very solid in this year even going up against some stars of the competition, hopefully he spends more time on the park in the next few years than his brother at melbourne.
