A loyal servant to the club for many years. 5th on our all-time games played list and one of only five to have played 200 games for us.

Spent most of his career battling against guys bigger than him but always gave a good honest account of himself. Spent his last year plugging away in the reserves without ever complaining. A true Freo clubman.

Thanks and good luck Groves.

One of my favourite players over the past decade. Just such a reliable player.

All the best Groves.

Wouldn't it be nice to drop someone down back to give him a send off game this week. But it won't happen as Ross will want structure and form leading into finals, you drop someone from a great winning team. Would have more chance of that happening if we weren't playing finals.

What a great servant of the club!

Congratulations Grover!

Great role player over the years. Shame he wasn't able to play more this year.

+ 1 to resting one of the young bodies to give him a chance to play a farewell game.

Seeya Groves, its been great seeing you play for the last decade or so. A true champion of the club - not for his skill on the field, but for his determination and willpower to hold a position in the Freo defence that was often subject to enormous pressure. All the best for the future Groves!

Does anyone know if there is a little Grover that we might see pull on the purple in years to come?

I don't think Grover would particularly welcome a token farewell game given that the club has a finals campaign to contend with. His entire career has centered around doing what is best for the club. He deserves an accolade or two that is for sure, and I am equally sure he will get that in the right way.

I think Lee Spurr should go back to the WAFL and learn to hit a target before he gets another call up. Love the guy but sheesh!

Great time for Grover, Faulks or Silvagni to come in.

Should be Grover for his official send off.

Sad to see him gone. Was a fav of mone for many a year.
Good luck to him, and hope he gets a send-off this weekend, if not picked, a drive round a golf cart etc to give us a chance to say thanks.

Farewell Groves, deserves a farewell game probably wont get it though. Should definitely get a lap around Subi this week at a minimum.

Knew that this was coming, but still feel really sad about it. Grover is just a staple of freo. Practicality vs. sentiment.... Hope he gets a farewell game... But can understand if he doesn't. Good luck groves!

Farewell Grover, you did the club proud.

I would have loved to see him get some game time as his experience would have been invaluable in the finals. Alas, soft tissue injuries caught up with him. Would also like to see him get a last game for sentimental reasons, but as pointed out already it would be unlikely.

Loved the Fraser Gehrig clip. Groves always had a knack of exploiting an opposition player's mental weakness. Gehrig and Fevola being prime examples.

A statue will be erected in Meekatharra in his honour.

Will miss you Antoni. Top bloke and always left 100% on the field.

Played on the true giants of the game in Lockett etc and was always undersized but never gave an inch.

Dito. I'll add in his prime he played the undersized fwd pretty well too. Remember that game where he tore Betts from Carlton a new one.
