8 miles is too long 😞
Well at least you learned something tonight. That is what we had to put up with before the metric system came in. It wasn't easy. Especially as you had to buy wine and whiskey by the flagon and rum came in barrels. Beer cans were double size compared to today...

...except in Darwin, where the stubbies were bigger still...

Along with mcwilliams royal reserve port and stones green ginger which hurt more coming up than it did going down.

Or if you wanted to lash out - cinzano brandivino.

Carlton Dry
Swan Draught (still would drink it now, just no where near as much, $8-10 jugs were the go)

If I took out a sheila then we would have a bottle of porphyry pearl, or if she was a little more upmarket, Blue Nun. The cheap treat Sheilas got Ben Ean Moselle.

And their country children. I was born after the metric system came in but no one used it and I still calculate what miles to the gallon I am getting on long drives.

Damn that must be a brain twister, all I can remember is a mile is 1.6. You’re so smart

Price of petrol is $2.35 USD / Gallon (US). What's that in aussie oxford scholars per litre?

Geez, Blue Nun brings back some childhood memories. There’s always be a stack of empties on a Saturday morning from the oldie’s Friday night cards.

Forgiven.

Imagine if any young 'uns lurked in here and saw gallons - they'd think it was the spanish inquisition.

EDIT

^^^^^ What did I tell you?
That's what the aztecs got when they saw Gallons.
