Roast Grumpy Old Thread II - the grumpiness continues

One for the Grumpy Olds as the google machine isn't helping me.

I've had about 10 calls today from people thinking I'm a backpackers. First call I thought it was a mate winding me up as I was being asked if I had "room for one male for the night". Then the calls from numerous Kiwis asking for a room kept coming in and I asked where they got my number.

I dial the landline number to the Backpackers - and yep, diverts right to my phone. So I can't contact them! Any clues on how I can get around this? They're in NSW so dropping in isn't an option. And life is too short to talk to a Telstra call Centre.

To think I've got to the age where I'm frustrated when young women backpacking are calling my phone.
Accept the bookings. You are doing the backpacker hostel a favour.

Not sure if there is anywhere that this ought to be posted, but old people watch the news, and this is on the ABC news site...

Find out where they are, ring the place next to them to relay that they diverted to the wrong number

Tried to find the business next door to contact, no dice.

Ended up doing this - kept answering the phone as "City Backpackers, how can I help you". Was tempted to take their credit card details etc, but ended up telling everyone there was plenty of room but if they could get the manager to turn off the landline phone diversion at check-in they could ask for a free night.

what is it with oil filters????

go into the kubota dealership to get a replacement oil filter for the mower with a 3 cylinder kubota engine armed with engine model, year, yadda yadda, bloke at counter takes 10 minutes looking at internet stuff, searching through folders and finally hands over a filter for 30 bucks, " i thtink this is the one you seek " he says with about as much confidence as our blokes have shown for the better part of the year,

get home and compare it to the 8 dollar filters for the yanmar engine on the polaris with completely different cross references and numbers and its compatable. turns out i had 2 spares on the shelf!

and looks like i only have to keep 4 different oil filters instead of 5.

hydraulic, air and fuel filters are another matter ;-(

Get home from work and start preparing a roast. Cut up the spuds, pumpkin and sweet potato, get the leg of pork out of the fridge, open up the packet and a foul smell flooded the room. The ******* pork was off.🤢

Don't panic Spide;

Fixed 👍 You can thank me later.
