Post Match - Round 2 v Las Vegas Bears
It was a tough day at the office against the Bears at the Stadium In The Sky as we went down by 37 points and started our season at 0-2. We got the jump on the Bears early, kicking four goals to two in the first quarter before they pegged the lead back in the second and took a four-point lead into half time. It was all downhill from there though as the Bears kicked 12 goals to six the rest of the way. jmoo wan led the way for us with 13 hitouts, 26 disposals and two goals while DERO picked up 19 disposals and eight marks and snozulu befriended the umpires collecting seven free kicks for the afternoon. Poor okeydoke7 failed to kick five goals so haydo will get a run in the goalsquare next week.
On the posting front it was a big week for the Gumbies. 11 posters with at least five posts in the match thread with DERO and peterss joining the group from last week while Vdubs and WaLkEr_ThE_StAr poked their heads into their first match threads of the season. Solid effort by everyone. There was a lot of enthusiasm within the group about our teamsheet submission, which we submitted in binary. It's fairly safe to say this divided the league with some seeing the funny side while others wanted to throw the book at us. haydo and I were charged with breaching the rules (poor haydo wasn't around for this - sorry mate!) but common sense prevailed and all penalties (1-game suspension for haydo and myself and 2 competition points) were suspended.
We're back at home this week, hosting the Royals. The match thread should be a little quieter this week compared to the Wonders and Bears but let's get in, get involved and make it an enjoyable week.

Post Match - Round 3 v Gold City Royals
Winner winner chicken dinner! We're on the board for the first time in season 28 and all it took was to move okeydoke7 out of full forward. After the bar was set at five goals the week before and only kicking two, okey was replaced for a match by haydo, who went and bagged nine big ones! Talk about Murphy's Law! okey will be back in front of the sticks next week against the Swampies but he'll have some catch up to do as haydo leads the club goalkicking for the season with ten goals to okey's five.
But back to the game - we set the tone early kicking six goals in the first and continued on all day kicking five, four and four in the remaining three quarters, while holding the Royals to eight goals for the day, including no goals in the third quarter. Aside from haydo's bag, jmoo wan picked up 26 disposals, nine hitouts, three tackles and two goals, snozulu collected 25 disposals and six tackles, and Jivlain bagged three goals from the pocket.
On the posting front, it was a quiet week as expected however a number of people managed to snag five or more posts for the week so thanks for your efforts DERO, snozulu, okeydoke7, Rodney Dangerfield, Ned Ryerson, jmoo wan, StFly, haydo and Jivlain.
This week we've got the Swamprats which will be a 180 on the Royals. Get involved and remind them that they're flag means about as much as Fitzroy's 1944 premiership. Also, feel free to tag former Swamprats players into the thread for shits and giggles.

Post Match - Round 4 v Sin City Swamprats
Back-to-back weeks at home saw us host the reigning premier Sin City Swamprats who couldn't get enough of telling us that they had not lost a game since June. Despite a three-goal lead at half time, six goals in the third quarter was the difference as both teams scored five goals in the final team and the Swampies ran away six-point winners. For the second week in a row haydo was a dominant force up front, kicking seven goals to back up his haul of nine last week against the Royals. Rodney Dangerfield racked up the disposals with 28 on the day to go with a Mobbs Medal friendly 10 tackles and seven free kicks. DERO collected 31 disposals and ten marks while WaLkEr_ThE_StAr notched up 100 Gumbies FFC games in style with 22 disposals in the middle.
Things were a little quieter on the posting front this week as we failed to crack double digits for number of posters with 5+ posts for the week for the first time this season. On a positive note, DERO and Ned Ryerson are leading the way with very active efforts against the Swampies.
This week we've got the Roys who are undefeated so far in S28. They're a good group of guys and they'll be up like the first time they tried Viagra so come along, pick a Roy and help them across the road like the good people we are.
100 Club
The 100 Club was introduced in season 19 during the Geelong Wolves days by then captain, A Bit High. 13 players entered season 28 having played 100 games or more for the Geelong Gumbies/Geelong Wolves/Gumbies FFC and last Sunday we introduce the 14th member to this club, WaLkEr_ThE_StAr. Congratulations on the milestone and thank you for your contribution to the club WTS.
