GWS v Eastern Ranges

Big chance for a win this weekend. Hope the boys go hard and achieve it after a few hard weeks:thumbsu:

Stayed back after the sfl game against wests and pennant hills to watch was what i thought was going to be a competive game for gws as they were playing the team above them on the ladder.
What i saw was a poor display on and off the field as i noticed at times there were players standing on the interchange line for more than 5 minutes after the team runner had given instructions to another player to come off and at on stage i heard the runner tell the player on the interchange to sing out to the offending selfish player to come off (shorely not his job) get your act together guys it is only 2 years to the big time and if u want get the the ball and get so exited that u have it and dont look for the best option instead of bombing the ball u may as well give it away as some of the younger players fielded in previous game have shown more guts and determination than some of the so called super stars from gws.

Very disappointing scoreline from what should have been a competitive game. Did not see the game but sounds like the game I saw a few weeks ago. To the coaches I would say bugger the rotations and get your best team on the paddock for the last couple of games. By best I mean skilled, courageous and those that want o be there as a few do not seem to care enough.

I was at the game and was expecting a better performance, but was left disapointed with the final result. A few thing to take into account, the Victorian sides are all getting better towards finals as they are now playing their better players who are back from the private schools. GWS are playing the best players they have available at this stage, unfortunately they are not playing at the standard required for the full game, they show patches here and there. Our boys are showing the wear and tear of a long season, which most of them are not used to playing at this type of level continuiously, whereas the boys from Victoria are. The gap between Victorian football and the standard NSW/ACT boys are exposed to are worlds apart. With three games to go our boys need all the support we can give them.

B24 I do not think we are far apart. I agree there are a few reasons for scoreline slippage over the past few weeks but.

Those boys who might be in theory the best players may not be at the moment. It has been a long season for many dating back to October last year and some are tired so they may not be in the best 22 right at the moment. Pick the in form boys who are ready and want to play at their best and are capable. It does no one any favours for boys that need a rest to keep playing.

Coaches should be able to tell between those on top and those that have slipped a bit. If you have seen my posts all year I only what good things for the club and players and the best way to do that is to finish the season on a high note. Playing competitive hard footy will bring out the best in the best and help them in their dreams for years to come but they need to play as a team and all 22 must put their best foot forward. The tough have to get going right now.

I hope for closer scorelines in the 3 games to come..

Look GWS were always going to struggle this year. McConnell has been the AIS coach which really doesn't mean much in the coalface of TAC footy.

Instead of dreaming about the GWS AFL team which will run out in 2012 (and keeping a reality check on the distinction of where the 2010 GWS TAC team is relative to the 2012 GWS AFL team) the immediate problem was to build a culture, keep all the kids interested, focused, but with their feet on the ground about the realities of AFL and the draft. Cultures such as what Calder, Oakleigh, Murray etc have, doesn't happen overnight. When I hear about the interchange situation like that, it's a long way short of the standard required.

Having said that GWS have made some mistakes that hopefully they learn from. 2 non aligned TAC clubs in the long run would be fantastic. Travel? Kids travel from Swan Hill to Gippsland, Melbourne and Geelong and survive.

Big struggle for the lads last week. A week to regroup and come out firing against a good team. I just hope they give 110% and improve. That is all the coaches want. Effort and improvement
