Fall Out Boy

Assuming Channel 10 are correct, i don't really understand the reasoning behind such a decision.

It's natural to come back via the VFL when you've had time off with a leg injury, but with a broken jaw you're still able to maintain your fitness (H certainly has).

Surely given his fitness is still at a decent level and his value to the team, we'd bring him straight back to the seniors.

Only possible reason for the VFL is if they're not sure if his jaw has healed properly, in which case he shouldn't play at all.

i think you will find he will be straight back in the seniors, as u said no reason to come thru the 2's with this king of injury, must play if King and ottens r still out, doesn't look good for ottens i feel at the moment

no chance, cats cant afford it at this stage of the year. to drop a couple more games will really hurt as the ladder shows. cats need their forward structure running asap. and Henry plays a huge part.

Confidence?

Why would he get more confidence at VFL level then he would at AFL level?

H has never been the type to dominate VFL footy, so it's not like he'd have an easy kill to boost his confidence.

Plays VFL likely to have a good game and come back into the seniors strong, the last VFL games he played he did play well.

The worst thing for us would be for him to come back in and play a porr game trying to regain form and then drop his head for the rest of the season, he is too important for that to happen.

He should be straight back in mind you.

I guess, however i think this season H has proven pretty strong mentally. Certainly doesn't get down on himself nearly as much as he once did.

H will be straight back in seniors, i think only Steve Johnson will come back through the VFL, and last time he kicked 7 goals to gain a ******** load of confidence

Oops,I forgot the superstar CHF.

That is so not funny on so many levels.....

Channel 10 isnt knwon for being right i dont think. Im sure he will play in the seniors and Sj will come back through the 2's. Will McCarthey be able to make it back in this year? Poor bloke :(

Bomber said it, that makes you think its true, but absolutely crazy IMO.
Dog Johnson to come back thru VFL to get some match fitness.

Did he actually say it though?

All i heard was him talking about King's injury, whilst the reporter mentioned both H and Dog would come back through the VFL.

Hmm, unsure, you are probably right.

Also watching Ottens run off the ground into the rooms after training tonight was not a pretty sight. Looked as bad as I've seen it.

I'd say this is correct. Thompson would have remembered what happened with Barnes at Essendon, who on return from a broken jaw, had lost the confidence to go for a mark technically correctly and instead dveloped a habit of dropping his head at the crucial moment. This was a major factor in Barnes's demise during his first stint at Essendon. Thompson would not really want to jeopardise H's long term worth for some short term gain, and a stint in the VFL, where he is likely to be targetted, could be hugely beneficial.

You want him to be targetted?

According to the article on the gfc website Thompson thinks otherwise

"But Thompson said the Cats were expected to welcome back two of their late withdrawals from last week in Cameron Ling (flu) and Jared Rooke (thigh) as well as David Johnson (hamstring), Henry Playfair (jaw) and Andrew Mackie (leg)."

Later in the article it mentions that Steve Johnson would come back through the VFL, no mention of Playfair there. Make of it what you will.

Was he actually talking about King's injury when talking about the groin injury ?
We never heard him mention who he was talking about, but it sounded like he was talking about Ottens and not King.

Just another stuff up by ch10.

There's no reasoning whatsoever to bring H back through the 2nds. Especially seeing that Otto doesn't look like returning any time soon. Ablett trained seperately from the main squad tonight, not sure if that's suggesting some kind of niggling injury or what.
