Hacks to stars

Cannot say Jobe was ever a hack. The constant drug taking, however, seemed to lift his game to another level.
Love it when people assert this incorrectly. Fun fact: at the halfway point of 2011 he was leading the Brownlow. Year before he was second. You know, before Dank was at Essendon?

Liam Picken owns this...
Could not get a look in with Collingwoodor the Dogs when he was at Williamstown.
Williamstown payed a large portion of his wage so the dogs could pick him up as a mature age rookie. Developed as a hard tagger... 10 years later he is taking speccies and kicking 4 goals in a granny. Astounding journey

Rohan Smith.
I tend to think most of our players are going to eventually make it but I thought Smith was soft and useless. Saw him get knocked out at Morrabbin in 92 or 93 and thought that was it. He came back and started doing really well and went on to play 300 games

He came 2nd in the B&F in 2006. Has been a quality player for far longer than peanuts give him credit for.
No. when he was going to get dropped because of his body fat issues was when he started to come good, because of the anti obesity drug.

So come on then champ, what year exactly was he going to get dropped due to body fat?
There was talk about it with Sheedy, as a matter of fact i think i recall it where he actually mentioned it, as an Bombers person surely even you heard those rumblings.

Keep the delusion coming. It's entertaining.

Say what you like, i don't care what you or else person believes.
Okay. You can keep posting your delusional ramblings, it's entertaining to the rest of us.

Watson is a very good footballer. Took a while to come good but once Sheedy left he improved dramatically. Wouldn't have minded Watson in dogs colours at all. Drug saga completely irrelevant.

I'd say the same about Matthew Boyd.

Boyd deserves 300 games and was happy seeing his premiership medal.

Craig Bolton, but bit harsh to class him as a 'hack'. Was at Brisbane when they were at their peak, and didn't get much of a go. Wonder if he would of become the player he did if he was still at Brisbane in their post three-peat era.

Which was in 2005, many years before the shit in 2012, yet you try and link the two together. Clueless.

Stop embarrassing yourself. Your timeline is about six years out.

Wasn't it 2007? Sheedy didn't pick him to play in his and Hirds last game and has stated he would have looked at a trade if he had stayed on as coach. Still a decent gap.

Not embarrassing myself at all, its the internet how could that possibly happen :) , anyway its a opinion and you would sing a different tune to the topic if you followed another side.

Correct. However he 'came good' to the extent of coming second in the Essendon best and fairest in 2006. Not to star level admittedly, but as you say, still a big gap.

He shed 7kg following the 2005 when there was talk of being delisted. He went from chunky forward to midfielder and was on the up from there. Yes he was dropped in 2007 and he might have been traded along with any other decent youngster for some wash up, but that was less and more so just crazy Sheeds who dropped him after one average game.

Yeah but clearly he was on teh drugz when he shed the pounds in 2005 too. Just 'cause.

Shades of Cameron Ling - both probably a little overweight at the start of their careers who were excellent forward as juniors who ended up making their name as a big bodied midfielder.

Watson is the prototype for kids who come into the system with suspect footskills and improve markedly under an elite program.
Might not be many players in history who have had their kicking improve as much as Jobe's.

Absolutely. That's another reason the drugs argument falls down. Drugs could potentially improve a lot of things. Field kicking isn't one of them.

There a number of kids from the 2016 draft that have kicking issues, but it is not that much of a big deal because it can turn around remarkably. Dont see it as a huge deterrent for drafting.
