Hi guys,

Haven't posted here for a while. Just letting you know that Hammo is most likely having an operation on his knee today and will out for 5-6 weeks. That's why he wasn't on the ground for the second half of the game yesterday.

Cheers.

So without Hampson, who will be ur second ruck?

I think the question should be who will be our first ruck because I think Ratts was planning on giving Hampson first crack in the season proper...
I think the ruck duties will now be shared around with Cloke, Kruezer (for 5 or 10 minutes a quarter) or as much as it pains me to say it even Ackland filling the void...

Is Ackland even fit? Is he playing for the bullants today? He may still be needed as insurance, given Cloke's wonky shoulders and the inexperience of Kruzer & Hampson.

Injuries are a part of football... this will test our depth...

At the end of the day we may unearth a new young up and comer...

We already know what our depth is, so no need to test it. We have a bit of depth in the midfield now, but thats really it, our depth can't cover too well for the likes of Fisher, and Walker's ability.

As for the ruck, well we barely have it covered let alone any depth, we certainly won't be unearthing a "up and comer". Ackland was always going to play round 1 if fit, but if he isn't, a ruck team of Cloke and Kruezer isn't very promising at this stage...If true, this is certainly the worst news thus far on any injuries.

Not good news. Was really hoping Hampson and Aisake were going to ruck early in 2008, but both are injured now it seems. Down to only Cloke and Kruezer. Kruezer looks like being an absolute superstar, but we really don't want to throw him into the middle in his first year. May be a fantastic opportunity for Jacobs. While frustrating, in a way these injuries are a great test for our young side. ALL teams cop injuries to important players, and the ability of a team to adapt is important. One player out, provides as opportunity for someone else. :)

Geez, cat amongst pidgeons there.

Admittedly, if there was ever a team you wanted to go up against with this sort of problem, it'd be Richmond.

However the options aren't all that great. Obviously Cloke and Kreuzer. Normally you'd have Setanta in there too, however, having lost 15kg over the off-season makes it hard for him to even be considered as a KP defender, let alone a bash and crash undersized ruck.

Ackland clearly isn't ready to start the season. Probably a blessing in disguise. Aisake also 3-4 weeks away with a knee injury.

Hartlett's had some stints in the ruck in preseason with minimal results. Could be an option.

Jacobs is another, despite being rookie listed, we haven't officially nominated Ellard as our 2nd nominated rookie, so could be a chance. Despite being largely pantsed against West Coast two weeks ago.

I'm thinking Hartlett at this point, largely to give us another option to cover Fisher as well.
