If were 3 and 3 then it would be most likely we had just won our last encounters against Melbourne,The Kangaroos and Adelaide.

That would have people in a wait and see mindset again.

The new coach (if any) needs to be someone strong enough to immediately delist the list cloggers amongst the club.
Leigh Matthews, at least, wouldn't put up with the cream puff performance they put in the other night.
The question is, do they go for authority and seniority - Matthews or Sheedy; or do they go for youth and longevity: Buckley, Hird, Hardwick etc?

Quite accurate too in your synopsis of what happened at Essendon.

Hardwick told their board the truth after he was past the post and had the job. Knights got the job after he told them what they wanted to hear blowing winf up their arse cracks saying we will make finals next year ... NOT. Hardwick was spot on in his analysis of their list.

As regards negotiating a contract, Wallace keeps his job if we make finals. If we don't, he goes but Hardwick is not my preferred option, I have found a growing respect for Nathan Buckley. Whatever it takes would be my opinion as Collingwood will not get rid of Malthouse if they do as well as I suspect and fear they might this year. If Buckley goes to Collingwood, bring Malthouse home and get Hardwick in as his main assistant.

while i still believe we have it in us to make the 8, in a way, i'd rather not. i dun really see wallace taking us to glory long term with his game plan. it's time for a breath of fresh air with a new coach. i'd rather us not make the 8 just so we can change the coach. sad thing is, wallace will likely keep playing players such as johnson just to save his own butt when we can clearly see they're no good.

I would really like to see hardwick coach us next year. He was in the invincible Essendon side of 2000, won a premiership in the Port Adelaide side and he has been Alistair Clarksons right hand man in developing the Hawthorn side. He appears to be the obvious choice for a coach who knows how to develop a side from the ground up and what is required for a side to win a premiership.

Other people that should be considered is Hird or Buckley. Buckley just before Hird though because at least Buckley is doing some sort of player management with youth development in football.

I reckon Hardwick would.

Look at Clarkson; he took the Hawks when they were a rabble - the type of person he is, and the type I think Hardwick is, aren't like Wallace who choose which side to pick based on which would be easier.

Hardwick strikes me as the type who would thrive on a challenge, and the chance to build his own legacy.

I think you'd be better served with a brand new Coach though; a young, ambitious coach with a lot to prove.

If we could do it Matthews, if not Hardwick. I want a coach that will demand we do all the small things that make the big differences, and will drag you for not going in when its your turn or for not tackling.

you know something, I'd personally spew if we went after this ****, couldn't stand his king hit from behind style of play and I would suggest he'd be as welcome at TIGERLAND as Robert Walls...let me just say that should the situation arise and I hope like **** it doesnt ...the avalanche of support for Sheedy to take the job would be overwhelming...cast back to the cuz debate and mutiply it by 10,000 to get the drift...and standing on the Punt rd hill with the royal hotel in the background there'd I'd be, dressed like braveheart with thousands behind me leading the revolution

Hardwick would be the right choice. Lets see where we are at after Round 6.

Deep down, I've always wondered what would have been if we'd appointed Malthouse when he left the Dogs. Its his last year at the Pies, and I dont think Gary Munch is good enough to get him over to us, but I still think he is the best AFL coach at getting the most out of his list.

i dont want for the situation to arise 80, but Im pretty good at knowing which way the winds blowing and I dont agree with the last remark...he'd do anything to take the reigns

Sheedy was a champion coach, but we need to look elsewhere. He would try and take us to the finals, like Wallace did in 2005 and 2006, which is not what we should do. We need to cut through at least half the list.
