One thing where the NRL is WAY ahead of the AFL is players being open about moving clubs mid season. The supporters manage to not lose their shit over it.

AFL it would be total meltdown.

But I guess that is the difference between a game watched live by huge numbers of people, and a game watched on TV by a lot of people.

NRL supporters on the whole arnt as loyal and dedicated as the AFL ones are.
Just because they are doing something the AFL doesnt, does not mean its ahead.

The unknown nature of it creates alot of speculation and news stories, which the AFL love.

Until the last day of their contract they are still working exclusively for their current team. That current team has the right to not have their players promoting their move to another ckub.
