Harry O as a forward

how do you think he would go?? mick has played so many forwards in defence and so many defenders as forwards, but we've never seen harry have a crack??

great kick, great at ground level (pick up and evasive skills.. i love him shrugging off a tackle)... probably not the best overhead/ contested mark.

just curious. because gee we lacked some targets in the forward line. and while leigh was good, he wasnt great... (dropped a couple of marks, missed a couple of shots etc etc)

probably a silly thread but i'm trying something i'm hurting just as much as everybody. and these ****ing trolls all over bigfooty laughing at us isn't making it easier..

What we need is a cloning device. If we had 22 Harry-Os playing for us I would be content.

As for Harry up forward, I'm not too sure. He doesn't seem to like taking set shots. He likes to play on and wind up. Then again, it's not like he takes marks close to goal. I'd be more inclined to play Nathan Brown as a permanent forward next year. Play Ben Reid at CHB instead. Brown has a strong body and can kick pretty well too.

i dont like the nathan brown as a forward option. but what, we've only seen him play there for like 2 games.. so who knows

our forward line is struggling. 48 points. absolutely crazy. remember back in 06 when we were regularly scoring 20 goals a match?? we had rocca of course doing well...

Its crazy. A year ago I honestly thought our forward line was the least of our worries and our defence was very weak and will struggle for a few years. And now its the complete opposite

2010 will be interesting.

Dawes - Must be given every opportunity to play as many games possible next year, as a FORWARD. shape him to play as rocca's replacement. take monster marks, bring the ball down or mark them.

Cloke - I am a big fan but gee he has tested the best of our patience. Absolute stinker of a year and topped it off with one of the worst games I've ever seen played by a pies supporter since Egan's last game against Brisbane at the Gabba. I like how mdc put it, he needs to be completely worked on all pre-season... do a reboot and get his mind right because he has the talent. we've seen him take big strong contested marks. we've seen him be more accurate at goal (never the most accurate but better than now)... he has the talent. the confidence and mentality is whats missing. stop leading to the wings ffs... he needs to be our big, angry, center half forward..

Anthony - Will he stay as a forward for the rest of his career. People may be right that he will always be a third string option. but then again, young player in his first full year.. its not unexpected

Medhurst - don't give me this injury crap. he has lost the hunger and passion he had when he first joined us, when he knew noone rated him and he had a point to prove. get bakc to that medhurst. dropping his was 100% the right move and hopefully he puts in a killer pre-season.

Leon - To be honest, the guy cant be blamed for being so quite, he is being played 90% of the game as a crumbing forward... not a midfielder. so you arent expecting him to rack up possessions. but still .. no goals? IMO, I would actually prefer leon as a full time midfielder and didak as a full time forward pocket. switch their roles around

we have the players. they are just not functioning. and if they don't get their act together next year than we will struggle again

No way. He's way too valuable down back to put up permanently forward. However I think if the players see a free Harry from outside 50 then the main priority is to give the ball to him and shepherd whoever comes near him while he winds up the BIG H.

Harry is close to an AA backman, and our defence is a great unit. With Presti retiring this year or next, leave Harry down back, and hope that Nathan Brown really comes on to replace Presti.

I'd get Harry to work on his tank over the pre-season and play him as a mid next year.

He might well be versatile and great down back, but a line breaker is what we need and Harry could play that role well. His core strength and ability to break tackles and get his hands free reminds me of Goodes.

Goldsack should be able to cover Harry's role down back or perhaps try and get Gibson across from NM.

Nah, we really need him down back, he is a genuine quality defender.

Would like it if he made a few more trips down into the forward line and launch a few more from outside 50. He has kicked some great goals, I have to say, the one against St Kilda last year was a real stand out.

We need to work on developing the forward options that we have, not weakening the back-line by moving one of its key components.
