4-4 draw away on a PIC against what looks like a N. spewing cos i was up a goal every time only for him to claw his way back.

hey guys n00b question time. Would be great to get your thoughts on this.

In 2 weeks time I'm playing my biggest threat for promotion. He plays a 3-4-3 and as such gets pretty good attack ratings and not so good defence ratings.

I usually play a 3-5-2 against my weaker opponents and a 4-5-1 against contenders.

I think possession is important. My question is if I played a 4-3-3 with 3 IM's would my possession suffer i.e. do wings contribute to possession?

Ideally I'd have the 4 defenders because he's an attacking player and the 3 strikers to take advantage of his weak defence, but I don't want to cough it up in the middle of the park.

Whats your opinion on the best way to combat a 3-4-3?

From what I believe, wingers contribute a little towards your midfield unless played towards middle. Wingers if played with no additional instructions provide a boost to attack and defence of the side they're on.

I would normally play 352 against a 343 but alot would depend on your players and your ratings. Provided you have a good keeper and defenders to at least be equal with his attack, your extra midfielder should limit his scoring opportunities.

Has he packed his players centrally? If so, pack your central defence and set your wingers to attack.
 
yes i am still in the cup and i finally got my 1st home game too. i think i should be able to win this one too.
 
I'm backpacking around Europe and struggling to log in on a regular basis but have somehow managed to keep advancing in the Cup.

Now I have the infamous Scooby FC, aka New Zealand cricker Mark Gillespie, in the next round!

He just manages to replace Dyertribe as the most famous person that I've ever played in hattrick. ;)
 
i lost 3-2. my midfield ratings took an absolute swan dive somehow.... was looking to get through todays game and unload on a decent mid and possibly striker to get even further, but my striker got injured during the game and he got 8 weeks........ yes 8!

edit: i answered myt own question really... the striker that got injured was that technical defensive one! no bloody wonder!

i dont follow...is there a proneness for them to get injured or do you mean that he was a vital part of the XI so no wonder he got injured??

vital part of the XI, boosted midfield ratings which is why i was shocked to see my low midfield ratings at first until i realised he was injured. And it leaves me short up front, but i splashed 5.7 on an extra-terrestrial striker anyway. lol
 
beat 2nd place @ home 5-2 today, still 5th but a point from 4th who i play away next round.

getting bored with HT, think FTP, BB & BT are much better games, but am still loggin in & setting orders. planning the switch to defence training late next season so hopefully that will see me get interested again.

sold a world class PM with solid passing for $6.3m last week, so will be looking to 'trade in' one of the 2 older strikers i bought this season for a younger striker with passing & maybe some wing.
 
moved into 4th with a win away to 4th, my SP taker is leading the leagues scoring so hopefully that keeps up to get some bonus $$

Meanwhile i slumped to my 4th defeat in a row and don't have a single striker to field next week. 2 are injured the other is red carded.

another bloody 1 goal win, now am 4 points from 1st & 5 from 5th. play 4th & 8th the last 2 games, expect 2 wins.
 
i missed out on 4th spot in div 5 thaks to a 88th minute goal by the other team. its ok tho cos im playing a bot at home next week for my qualification match. :D:thumbsu::thumbsu:
 
was 4-1-1 and top of the league early on. slumped to 4-2-8 by seasons end. twice this season i have to field lineups! my own fault. anyway,m back to IV i go.
