FC Crouchzinho 4-3 Italian Stallions FC!

- 3 yellow cards
- 1 red card
- 4 injuries
- 4 goals in the last 10 minutes

Probably the best game the good people at the Peter Crouch Stadium have ever witnessed.

Is anybody else out there still playing hattrick? Ed Gein?

I've finally made it to Division III after all these years and still loving the game.

Should be even more enjoyable this season with a fellow bigfooty member in my league, although the way he has started promotion to II is well and truly on the cards.

Nah Sainter, not that confident of making it to division II and to be honest, i dont really want to be promoted. I'd get absolutely r*ped in those leagues, and well i may just have to tank a few rounds if im going close to promotion.

Plus its such a struggle to run at a decent profit in the higher leagues. The only way to make money is through training youngsters, and seeing that i have hardly any, not a good predicament to be in. Im rarely active in the transfer market. Your team is pretty good, top effort in beating me.

That's what I like about the game. We all approach it in different ways.

For me, I've always been a defence trainer. It doesn't always make for the most exciting football but it's always made me a shitload of cash. I sold a defender from my youth academy for $8,000,000 last week. It does mean I usually play formations like 4-5-1's, 5-4-1's or 5-3-2's which makes it difficult against the mostly 3-5-2's you see at this level but I like the challenge.

Besides, if you've seen my wage bill (currently $1,077,428), you'll know perfectly well why I need to make so much money in sales! :o

Holy crap!! My wage bill is half of that haha. Technical defensive forward ftw! It does help when your best players are on under 10k per week :D

Im currently training passing, i've been interchanging between that and playmaking, got a couple of decent prospects coming through. Downside is that i only have a few players that it really makes a difference for. I mean its all well and good having mids with decent passing but at the end of the day its not going to make a massive difference i dont think. Technical forwards do sell for a lot though, im hoping that maybe i can gradually sell the older ones for 8-10 million once the younger guys catch up to them and then restart the process.

Got a few decent youth guys coming through too. The academy thing is pretty interesting. Amazing that i've been playing this game for so long and still so interested in it.

I've lost 3 out of the 4 games since Sainter beat me. He put the mockers on me and now i've slumped to 4th. Even hes overtaken me! Went from a 4pt lead on top of the table to 2 pts behind in 4th. It sucks.

Didn't know there was a thread on my favourite online management game!!! Very much addicted to Hattrick.

Been playing for 3 years... still in Div.5. I am just stock piling cash as it is, been doing that since I started, about to get through my 4th (maybe 5th) set of trainees. Train playmaking with the 3-5-2 like everone else. My next set of trainees will have a couple of guys who I hope i can retain as midfielders in my first team as I think I have enough cash to start to move up from Div.5.

At what level did people start to move up, in terms of when did people decide they had enough cash to move up?

:D

It's OK, I usually do that to my AFL team.

We've gone from 1 point after 3 games to 13 points after 7 games to sit in second at the halfway point of the season.

As it's my first season in III it's far beyond my expectations but I fear it will come to an end shortly. My midfield was benefiting from playing it cool in the cup so I won't get that TS boost again. I've only got 3 more home games for the season and I have 2 IM's and one winger on 2 yellow cards which will cost me later in the season.

You never know what might happen though. We're in the second toughest Division III and the sixth toughest overall league in Oceania. As it's so close it's already nearly impossible for somebody to gain automatic promotion and the 2 teams that get automatically relegated are going to be very, very unlucky.

Welcome to the hattrick thread. :thumbsu:

To be honest I've always tried to finish as high as possible regardless of whether I thought I was ready to compete in a higher division.

The thing I'm most proud of is that I've improved every season. I suppose if I'd been relegated and won the league the following the season I'd have a few more trophies next to my name but I'm happy with the way I've done it.

The thing in my favour was that I started in Division VI and was in an active league so it took me until the end of my fourth season to be promoted. By then, I already had my training plan in place that has held me in good stead. A lot of teams start in V or in a VI bot league and get promoted before they are ready.

I've been a defence trainer since day 1 and always played 5 at the back in both the league and cup/friendly games to maximise training. Once I got to IV I knew I wouldn't be competitive so have changed to playing 4 defenders in my league and 4 in my cup/5 in my friendlies. Defence training can be boring at times but it's very lucrative. At the moment I actually find it quite exciting because I'm the only team in the league that doesn't play a 3-5-2. It gives the opponents something else to think about.

This is my history anyway. Let us know how you're going.

Thanks... can't believe I didn't find it earlier, my obsession with this game is a bit sad... hahaha.

Yeh I have been reading the Hattrick forums and it seems defense training has taken over as the most profitable as opposed to playmaking. Certainly in youth league/trainees, defenders have taken over... recently sold a youth player with solid defending/passable passing at 17, 30 days for almost 1.3mil. I just can't get away from innre midfield training for the seniors though as it has served me so very well, from a money hoarding perspective anyway.

I started just after you did, and was lucky enough to be relegated from Div 5 in my second game. Spent the next 2 seasons in Div 6 bot league, where like you, was able to set up a training program etc etc. made the mistake of hiring the wrong type of coach (inade trainer/solid leadership, WTF ahaha), but quickly rectified that and once i was promoted to Div 5.43 (which is where I still am) have never been relegated.

Have taken a different course to you in terms of my team progression. Like I said, I am concentrating on training rather than actually trying to improve my team and finish high in the divisions, I really want a truck load of cash before I push up hard the divisions hard. This has also let me fiddle around with different tactics, what specialties help in what areas etc etc. For example, reading the forums, unpredictable for an inner midfield with high passing is supposed to give to increase the chances of a positive spcial event... CRAP!!! Even with good defence seocndary, they concede more negative speical events than positive without a doubt.

Took me a while to start up a youth team, only started at the start of this year, and it has already reaped rewards! Definitely the best improvement in the game since I joined in May 2006.

I managed to get to round 5 of the cup this season, which for a team sitting 2nd in Div.5 is pretty good. Are you still in the sainter? If not, you keen for a friendly?

Everyone has different training routines. At the moment im working on building up awesome technical defensive forwards, hence i train passing.

My biggest regret in the game was selling an absolute superstar in the making from my youth academy at the time thinking i won't end up training him.

Technical specialty, excellent passing, passable playmaking and inadequate scoring at about 17 and 20 days. Devo about that, especially because the players im searching around for at the moment are far worse than him and cost a lot more than what i sold him for.

Unpredictable mids suck balls. The one in my team shits me, always concede goals from his lunacy.

Yea the TDF's took off after the implentation of the new game engine.

At the end of the current season I was looking at buying one about 20-21 years of age with low playmaking, and then training them up on a winger position during the friendly to make a lil more cash on top of my inner mids.

Unpredictables used to be good, on the old game engine... but I have nothing but bad experiences with the latest batch. Some people on the Hattrick must be doing alright with them though as they are still considered desirable by some.

So how many TDF's are you training up and what age/skill level you buying them at?

At the moment most of them are pretty old. The first teamers are 23 and 26 respectively. Then have a 22, 20 and 19 yr old trainee. Looking into buying another one tbh, and perhaps getting rid of one of the old chaps.

They're around solid-formidable PM, outstanding passing, solid-outstanding scoring for the older ones, had them for many seasons now.

The younger ones are around excellent and solid levels.

Its hard to find good trainees, and when you do bidding wars get insane as the next decent one may not come along for a long while. Which is the reason why im pretty pissed off at selling the youth academy pull a couple of seasons back. It appears the team he's at has done nothing either. He could've been a mega gun.

I just got a PM from the Oceania U/20 defence scout asking for info on 3 of my defenders. I doubt any of them will get chosen but I'm happy that they're in contention anyway. I was lucky enough to have one of my YA graduates play 13 times in the U/20's and eventually sold him for $8 million.

I was knocked out of the Cup in the 6th round. I'm kind of annoyed because I had my opponent well and truly covered stats wise so I decided to PIC. In the end it cost me the match but the resulting boost to my team spirit saw me win my league game easily so I shouldn't complain. It was probably the PIC in the Cup game that got me home against RoJo as well. It's hard to lose with a brilliant (very low) midfield.

As for a friendly, I'm afraid to admit I'm one of those flag chasing nerds. :o

Bangladesh was my 103rd away flag. It's getting harder and harder to arrange them now. In fact Bangladesh was actually won in a flag chasing lottery federation that I'm in.

I generally leave my challenges open until the cutoff for international friendlies arrives. Then I just pick out a random team out of the friendly pool. If it ever gets to tuesday and I haven't arranged one I'll definitely play a friendly against you.

As long as your player has high passing then unpredictable players are well worth getting. They can definitely be a liability with low passing with negative SE's often happening. This was my last unpredictable SE: "John Worraker caught everyone off guard with a great opening pass - but unfortunately Clarence Miles was as surprised by the move as anybody else, and managed to miss the extraordinary opportunity". They are better when they result in a goal. :p

Yea I have noticed some of these kids get up to 10mil or more for 19-20 year old TDF trainees... insane amount of money, but they usually have higher PM than I'm looking for. In the end you usually make money on them if you say, pop 2 levels of PM or something, they should appreciate in value when you sell them anyway.

Nothing wrong with chasing the flags, I just know it will take me too much time and I really cbf, I want cash.. hahaha. I usually jump into the Oceania pool after my freidnlyt he week before, just so I have it organised straight away, so many times forgot to arrange a friendly and miss a week of trianing for half my trainees..

I recieved a couple of PM's on youth defenders as well, including the one above. I currently have a 16,20 days youth defender, already maxxed to solid defending, with inadeq passing and winger, yet no message. Must be hard for them to scout consistantly. It also annoys me that a couple of my youth players have maxxxed out well before the age of 17... such a waste.

Just bought another technical trainee, the prices of young players is getting beyond ridiculous. 900k it cost me just for a 17 yr old bloke with a couple of passable stats.

Thinking of selling my oldest TDF, i reckon i could get about 10 million for him. 8 star players that cost 10k weekly wage is very rare to come by.

8 star players that cost 10k in wages? That's just a pipe dream for me.

I pay $245k a week for one of my 8-9 star IM's. And being oceanian that includes the 20% wage discount!

I was reading lately that goalkeepers now utilise a bit of defending and set piece skill in their ratings... I have a supernatual keeper (Oceania as well) who has disastorous everything else. How much of a difference does a bit of defence and a bit of set piece skill improve ratings, assuming you guys have an idea?

Unless you get an Oceanian playmaker sainter ;) Unfornately, top top quality trainees at Oceania level are so hard to find... Otherwise I would be looking for three of them to fill my first team.

Was looking at this bloke as a potential TDF trainee...

Wage: 3 384 AU$/week including 20% bonus

TRANSFER-LISTED

Deadline: 29-10-2009 18.00

Asking price: 5 598 000 AU$

Current skills
Keeper: disastrous
Defending: poor
Playmaking: passable
Winger: poor
Passing: formidable
Scoring: formidable
Set pieces: solid

Train him from passable to formidable in playmaking... but obivously his price will rise from what he is listed at the moment. Rojo do you reckon training him in playmaking from the wing is a bit wasteful? Should I look to train him in the middle so hes get 100% PM training a week? Obviously this is desirable but at the expense of say a 17 yr excellent PM?

LFTWNG, on the topic of goalkeepers with defending, i think its basically for every 3 defence stats its worth 1 goalkeeping stat. Its going to be hard to train that though, but if you do its very cost effective. The wages won't increase very much, and in fact my keeper has excellent defending :D Still dont like him though.

With that TDF, training him in playmaking isn't really worth it, ideally for mine he could go up to solid or excellent PM, then you'd want more passing for him to be most effective. Passing doesn't take as long as other stats to increase either, so as im a passing trainer anyway, i look for people with decent playmaking already, with not so great passing.

Dropping all those bullshit games in my league has cost me big time. Only 37,000 people rocked up to my 75,000 seat stadium. Bandwagoner bastards! :p

Usually make over $1 million per home game only 600k this week.

Now that i won they better start coming back!

oh well i gave up. PyroTechnics is now a bot team lol.

Had a bit of fun for the first 3 years. Was hooked and always looking through the transfer market looking for that impulse buy. (Don't think i actually had any, i managed to restrain myself lol).

But for the last year i found myself not being bothered and logging in to set lineups etc. I managed to get myself relegated from IV cause i didnt set line ups. Found V a struggle and i just couldnt be bothered with the struggles of trying to get back up. Ended up having 70m sitting in the bank.

Ah well it was good while it lasted. Wish i could remember something decent from the game.

Perhaps my 2 FTW's, Per Duven and Denis Pigot bought them both at 17 at around excellent scoring/passable wing and trained them both up to supernat scoring + wing. IIRC though, whilst training them they tweaked the FTW position so that my plans screwed up a little. Think it was to do with the passing. Not sure.

I never bought that guy, but I was wondering if you knew what context I meant? Training TDF's primarily is not my focus. I am looking at it from the POV that I have 2 more trainee positions for playmaking in the wing positions. I have my 6 Im trainees, who I will primarily concentrate on. I also have 2 wingers who I train in playmaking (obviously they take twice as long as to pop in playmaking) who provide me quality out wide during league games as well as a nice little profit when I sell them on. I was looking to do this with a TDF as well. Play them as a DF during my league games, where he would provide me quality (more than I have now up front!), but being able to slowly train him in playmaking until, for example the guy I suggested early, reaches formidable playmaking then i could sell him for a little profit as well as giving me more impetus in my first team? Would he not be worth it in that case?

Also my main 2 rivals in the division just went bot! So with only one loss and a draw (both to these 2 teams) I should win all my remaining games. May get my first shot at Div.4!!! Although I will have 6 new IM trainees by the middle of next season, meaning I will prolly go straight down.

So how are we all going in our season? I got r*ped 7-0 last Sunday, devastating. I knew i was in for a tough time, played my wingers offensive to try and boost attack ratings and then copped 2 injuries in opening 20 minutes. My fans aren't too happy and it's gonna cost me big time in the home league game next week. Instead of the usual 1.2 million i'll be lucky to make 500k :(

Oh well at least im still in 3rd spot, 1 point above Sainter :D We're against each other this week, at my home ground, hoping for a win.

However going by the stats my defence is the worst in the league. Worrying stuff.
