Sainter, talk about being unlucky. To lose out on promotion by 1 goal is unbelievable. It could benefit you a lot staying down another season anyway. Bad luck.

Yep, I'm shattered.

This is how turned it out:

1. Hellas Heros 14 13 0 1 54 - 5 +49 39
2. FC Crouchzinho 14 13 0 1 54 - 6 +48 39

3. J-Rad 14 8 2 4 46 - 19 +27 26
4. Tunafish 14 4 3 7 18 - 41 -23 15
5. Bylong FC 14 3 4 7 13 - 31 -18 13
6. 22hipno22fc 14 4 1 9 21 - 40 -19 13
7. Zaire Blues 14 3 1 10 13 - 40 -27 10
8. Kev's Kommandos 14 2 1 11 14 - 51 -37 7

Knew I was in trouble when I played Hellas a couple of weeks ago and gave away a 1-0 lead to lose 2-1. When you finish the season with a 13-1 record you don't expect to not win the league but that's the way it turned out.

That's my third full season of hattrick and I've finished 4th, 3rd and now 2nd so next season has to be my time. I've got a bunch of trainees turning 21 so I'll have plenty of money to spend once I finally get promoted.

Very unlucky sainter.

I think i finished 3rd, 2nd and now 1st myself.

Ed, if i do finish 5th first season up, do i simply stay in Div V? Is it the bottom 1 (or 2) or who playoffs? I have no idea about the higher divisions.

I'm frustrated but after 4 seasons I shouldn't have many worries about staying up when it finally happens.

In division V the teams that finish in 5th and 6th play a qualifer while the 7th and 8th placed teams are automatically relegated.

If you win next week your first aim will just be to finish in 6th place or better. If you can get into the top 4 and avoid the qualification match even better.

So what happens now that the season is over? Are you supposed to still arrange friendly matches or just let your team rest?

Yes. You need to organise a friendly if you want training over the break. (Your slots are halved though cause there is no league game.) But if you are training stamina i don't think you need to worry about it. But i would organise one.

could we have a little bigfooty friendly tournament for this year?

just a little way to keep this thred going.

Are you going to organise the draw? Why not get everyone to post their team name and team ID and close entries on say, Sunday night?

I'll start;

PyroTechnics (77408)

EDIT: I'm guessing its going to have to start probably half way through next season when everyone is out of the cup?

yea though if we have till half way through next season we could just close it at hte end of round 5 or 6 and then someone/ or me can organise a draw once all the teams are in.

beaver's army (77725)

At this stage I'm not going to enter because I've become an obsessive flag chaser. :o

It's a good idea though.

If I get the time I might go back through this thread and start a list of all bigfooty hattrick teams.

That way we can all follow each others progress as well as having an easy to access list of teams to challenge for friendlies.

Too easy!

I won my playoff game 3-0 which means im up to Div V!!
First i must work out how much extra seating i need for my ground.

Congrats RL.

Hopefully you'll stay up and I'll see you in Div 5 in two seasons time.

By the way if you didn't know the recommended seating breakdown is:

Terraces - 62.5%
Basic seating - 25%
Seats under roof - 12.5%
Seats in VIP boxes - 2.5%

Like you said it's up to you to decide how big you want to expand the ground.

Damn, hattrick isn't letting me log in, I had a bid going for a young GK.

It should be expired now so I hope that nobody else could get on so he comes to my team.

I organised a friendly for this week, this was my first half season so am not sure how it works now.

Is there a pre-season, and when do we find out the new seasons matches? What is everyones recommendations for training, is it best to train set pieces & stamina in the pre-season? Thanks guys.

So your very new to the game?

I'd say the first thing to do is buy a passable coach with poor leadership. THat will cost 550k or so.

What are you training?

You dont have to switch to stamina or anything during the off season, although some people do becuase there is only 1 game a week (friendlies) for 2 weeks. So you only get half your players trained. Thats why people switch to stamina in the off season cause it trains everyone regardless. The only downside training s tamina is players form.

I'm training passing myself in the off season.

Got accepted half way through this season, bought a passable coach and have been training playmaking every week. Bought in a bunch of 17 year olds who have been receiving the training.

Is it only set pieces and stamina that everyone gets trained in even if they don't play?

Thats correct. What level of stamina do your midfielders have? If they are below passable then i'd train stamina i guess. Apparently stamina is pretty important on playmakers.

But it's up to you.

I'm thinking of trying something different this preseason, usually i do free kicks and stamina but my stamina isnt bad (some players have dropped in stamina though :thumbsd: ). I am going to train passing for a little while, i chose short passes as i guess that seems logical and im guessing only players who play matches get trained? I dont mind this because im keen to stay up so my first teamers will get trained at least.

Also that playmaker who was outstanding has now gone up to brilliant pretty quickly it seems and hes only 23.

I changed it to through passes as my teams passing is really bad, but the stamina of my midfield needs improving as well. I play 4-5-1 and for the league matches I have 3 midfielders on poor stamina & 2 on inadequate.

I think it was in this thread that I read to train stamina on the second week after the game calculates new wages as stamina increases the wages, so I might train through passes this week to improve my defence and midfield passing, and stamina next week.

I am not too worried about set pieces yet as I have a solid and a few passable. Besides my team is crap and I am not looking at promotion for a long time.

Fair call! Passing is a handy secondary to have on midfielders. They really sell well if they have passable + passing. There is a huge slump in the midfielder market at the moment though. I picked up a titanic and an extra-terrestrial for 4.1 combined! Last season i bought a world class for 4.4 on his own. Maybe its the wages.

But maybe when you are looking to sell a couple of your players, the market will have picked up. :thumbsu:

Don't worry, i camped in div VI until my team was strong enough to compete in div V.

I don't want to have my team known as the Sunderland of Aussie Hattrick!

If I was smarter I might have trained goalkeepers as they can be sold for a fair amount, but I had already bought my trainers before I thought of doing that.

I won't be selling them for a while yet as they have heaps of improvement to make (or so I hope)

Thanks for all your help mate.

You should always top up your stamina in the preseason - especially now that it wanes every 7-8 weeks. Even if the bulk of your players are excellent, they can still reach formidable.

Other than that, sneaking a week or two of training skills outside your usual regime is only advisable if you have players who are already fairly good in those categories - ie, if you have a few mids who have passable or solid passing, or a keeper whose TSI suggests he might pop a level.

It is the end of my first season, mind you I only started half way through. I have been relegated having started in Division 5. Although I managed to get a draw in my last game which was very promising.

I have cup my first ever cup game this week which I could win as I think it is a bot team.

Just a question on trainees. How long do you train them before selling and starting over?

By the way does anyone play battrick, a crickeet version of the game hattrick.I relatively new to the game but am already winning games and all the while having a lot of fun. I reccommend it to any fans of hattrick!

I guess it would be ok to sell at 20/21 when your trainees are around supernat or titanic? What are your trainees now?

I made the mistake when i first started (i trained defense) of buying trainees at passable and selling usually at excellent or formidable, and when i'd had enough of training defense i switched to winger and my best defenders were only outstanding. So its good to buy 1 set of trainees and train them right up. Others may have different opinions, but i think keeping them until they are right up near titanic is the way to go.

Yeah i play battrick too. Although i'm not really a fan of cricket, its not too bad either.

I'm a defence trainer and following the advice of Ed Gein on this very thread I bought a combination of 17 and 18 year olds when I first started.

Five of them turn 21 next season and I'm looking to sell them all. At least 3 of them will pop to magnificent so I expect a reasonable profit. I've been told that wages significantly increase after magnificent so it's probably a good time to sell. They have a minimum of passable passing which is important for defence trainers (because of the counter attack skill) so I'm hoping for at least $10 million from all 5.

It's not easy buying 10 trainees and a good coach when you start so I've had to battle debt for much of my time but I've got that under control now. Of the 10 that I originally bought I've sold off the crap ones for a small profit and replaced them with better trainees.

I think you'll enjoy the game in Division 6 a lot more Villa. It gives you a chance to rebuild your team and focus on training but with the added benefit of winning games. Hopefully by the time you promote you'll be ready for Division 5.
