Hauritz - surely he cannot be selected first test

I suspect he will be. First/second day isnt exactly the time to judge a spinner, see how he goes second innings.

Although it wasnt even getting spanked, it was things like going round the wicket to right handers that was very dissapointing with his play today

But while there are plenty of options in the pace ranks, Australia's selectors may be second-guessing their preferred spinner for the Ashes after Nathan Hauritz returned 0-74 from 15 overs for NSW.

All-rounder Steve Smith had more luck, collecting 2-45 from 11.4 overs as the sixth bowling option for NSW.

It'd be a no-brainer.

Unfortunately, that's a better descriptive term for our selection panel.

doherty has an appalling FC record, if you are going to go with a spinner ... it may as well be with one who can takes some wickets. Krejza.

but i think we all know Hauritz isn't going anywhere anytime soon, he has been a very solid test contributer

Doherty has been taking wickets in his recent first class matches for Tasmania though, Krejza can't even take wickets for the 2nd 11 at the moment. And Dohertys FC record is better than Krezjas anyways.
33 matches, 80 wickets at 49, 3 5 fors, vs
40 matches, 92 wickets at 49, 1 5 for.
SLightly better overall, but recent form, doherty>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>krejza.

X Man is not ready yet, but is showing a bit more form in long form recently. Give him a year.

Smith's bowling is not up to test standard, but then again you have to wonder is Hauritz's? I agree with The Falcon Strike in that honestly Hauritz is no more or less threatening than any other spinner in the country at the moment. May as well play the bloke who can bat, field and has potential to improve instead.

Marcus North should be the sides spin option.
His average, economy rate and strike rate in FC Cricket are all superior to that of Nathan Hauritz.
