I mean sure? Hawthorn did get 81000 (a sell out) last week against the Dons on a Friday Night. But sure lets talk about a Thursday Night away game when it was pissing down (a game the cats drew 54,000 to, against the Blues, in perfect weather back in 2023)

Will you thank the 50,000 Hawthorn fans that prop up Easter Monday? As I said id rather ditch the Cats, give you back the game (at our home game) and play the Tuggers or GoDees instead
Nice melt.

Blame it on Blues fans. Geelong fans shouldn't be expected to travel for Thursday night games.

Tbf given it was a Carlton home game there were probably plenty of Blues fans that had tickets on Thursday that didn't turn up due to having their hopes shattered the week before by Richmond

Pretty much this.

There was only 6 bays in the Southern Stand and a few bays in the upper Ponsford that was available for members anyway.

Meanwhile the Cats barely cracked 20000 last week on a Saturday afternoon. I still don't get why Geelong are playing a ‘home’ game against us at our home ground in a few weeks.

I think its high time the provincial club surrender their place on Easter Monday and give it to the MCG co-tenants. It should go the same way as ‘the Country Game’

Yes, I'm sure you would, having won 3 out 14 Easter Monday fixtures 😺
But ducking out of a marquee game and looking for gate receipts and an easybeat opponent...
That's not very Hollywood, is it?
Geelong is small beer for us, Essendon is the rivalry. The Cats should hunt for a rival that can gives them equal focus. Maybe the Dogs - the great Western suburbs shit fight?

March premiers the Hawfs. Looking to go back-to-back with April.

On the bright side, for the first in about a decade, Easter Monday is actually a live game.

True to form, the Cats will win that (as they have for basically every Easter Monday game) but lose the game that matters…
Which game would that be?

Hawks haven't given us any opportunities to meet them in a "game that matters" for a decade

Almost a decade. Who can forget Geelong premiership and Norm Smith legend Isaac Smith confining the Hawfs to a straight sets exit?

Wasn’t knock out though. Like the 1991 SF and the 2014 QF it was important but not definitive.

The only difference was Hawthorn won those flag and the Cats chocked hard in an ‘unloseable’ Prelim Final

1989, 2000 and 2013

Take that to the bank, ‘football loving bogans’
