Hoping a final between these two occurs, fred of the year material.
Not likely. The hawks will have to travel to QLD or NSW wk 1 and if they somehow get enough free kicks to win they will be heading to W.A to play the Purple Poophs, then, if a plague hit the Dockers and somehow they win over there they will be off to S.A to get destroyed by Adelaide.

So due to the Fact the Cats beat them at their home ground early in the year they're now on a world tour during finals, and after last year we all know how that ends....

Has that game ever appeared on FTA before?
I remember watching the very first one back in 1995, and I live in Victoria.
But once the novelty of a 2nd team ended, the WA rivalry isn't all that interesting outside of WA.

Hawthorn v Geelong has been producing tight matches for over 20 years. Hawthorn had the better of it in the 90s and early 2000s, but Geelong has had a good run more lately.

The fact that so many were determined by less than a goal, and less than two goals shows how tightly contested these matches were, and they weren't crap-scraps like the Sydney-West Coast grand finals either.

No other rivalry comes close today for maintaining quality over such a period of time.

Carlton hasn't been a force for 30 years. Essendon for 25.
Holding on to the scraps of history doesn't help their cause either.

Even today, Hawthorn and Geelong still put on a good show.
