Hawks Game Staying Put

Just the club looking after its best interests! It's disappointing if you happen to be a Hawthorn fan, but our club should be in the business of looking after their members. The club made a commitment to play 7 games at Colonial and if the AFL won't offer due compensation in the form of a swap, the club has every right to "honour" its contract.

I can understand the frustration amongst Hawks supporters, but you can't hold this against the EFC. This is and AFL problem. They set the draw, and are the final decision makers when it comes to moving games. :(

Well it's a f*cking disgrace if it stays at Colonial. An absolute disgrace. If a match between two well supported teams who are 1st and 2nd on the ladder can't get moved, what hope of there is any maych being moved. This match fits all the criteria we are looking for, for a match that should be transferred.

This is one of the worst, and most illogical decisions that the AFL, and Essendon have ever come to in the history of the game. No logic whatsoever Are we afraid of only making $990,000 profit, instead of $1,000,000?

I suppose if the game was at the MCG, we would have to fold, because we wouldn't be making enough money.

Yes, I'm not happy either.

I think this is a move that makes us out to be corporate whores. We are a club that is
very well off financially; we don't need the money (besides, won't an extra 20,000 MAKE
us money anyway?).

I've been trying to get tickets for a week and have been having a lot of trouble. Is
it sold out already?

Holding a blockbuster (yes, I count it) at a small stadium is a travesty. Hawthorn is no
less of a blockbuster club that Richmond or Collingwood. I don't like this "big four"
mentality. I would hate the AFL to continue to go down the elitist path that have
already ruined American sports.

On the other hand, I wouldn't mind going somewhere other than the MCG after the
experience I had today.

This might surprise you Dan, but he was one of us. All the more confusing.

I went down on the ground at the end and kicked a ball around with my girlfriend
and some drunk guy in a Bomber guernsey kept stealing it. At first I let it go, but
eventually he decided swiping it wasn't enough and gave me a full-on tackle. So
I went after him and tripped him and he got up and gave me a blow to the stomach
and a nice head-butt to the forehead (where I still have a nice lump). Security
chased him off and advised us to go out a different exit.

It really isn't that big a deal, it's just a ball, but I don't understand why he felt like
he had to do this repeatedly and then try to pick a fight.

And I thought Richmond supporters were very well-behaved. I suppose they were too
stunned at their own club's performance to take it out on us.
