He's talking about over the course of their careers though.

49/119 for Taranto, at 0.41
31/84 for Worpel, at 0.37

Not much in it really.
Exactly, it's not what sets them apart at all.

As a fantasy owner, seeing TT shank a kick for goal time and time again is bloody frustrating!

Understand the data doesn’t support it but my view is not based from actuals it’s potential from watching him play. I saw him dominate 1 game at marvel a few years back kicking 4 (I had him for 2 goals as they said he would play forward so was stoked)! We won’t see it at Richmond given how threadbare their midfield is…

The thing that still baffles me around Finn, every person in Australia knew he wasn’t a great kick in his junior footy.

This is why I believe he will stay long term. Sam Mitchell will see and hope he becomes another version of Brad Sewell long term.
100%
His strengths are quite clear:

His strength in general, especially hips and core, to stand up in tackles, he is really good at getting his arms up above tacklers and distributing by hand, where he is good, he's obviously learning running patterns of wingers, outside mids, inside mids and forwards, so it's a learning and long term plan by Sam, he's got good leadership, his physical nature of elite endurance and good speed/explosiveness ontop of his core strength is very good.

Feel like he's played within himself aswell, only a couple weeks ago had a game at 90% DE, which obviously isn't expected by someone who is an average or below average user of the ball by foot.

I just wanna see him be able to play as a ball hunter, because that's where he is at his best, it was why he was rated highly in his draft year, with everything i mentioned but his pure hunger for the contest and the see ball get ball, his ability to rack up contested footy was high level, his contested possession rate % before tagging was extremely high.

But again, clearly a long term plan by Sam.

Not sure about Blanck. Can’t see him being on an AFL list in 2 years.

Brockman needs a 2 or 3 year deal

Blanck is very much AFL quality.

He's a very good stopper, great size both physically and height wise, good wingspan which is quite important as a key defender.

But it was on display in the VFL, he's far too good there, like leagues above. He was so unbelievably clean in shocking conditions.

He hasn't been that good to start 2023, but he's still only 21. Last season he was seriously good.

He shows an ability to genuinely kill the ball with a big spoil, his ability to read the play and get that big fist in was class, in the first game against Essendon he was actually intercepting with big contested marks, which was a nice step in the right direction, obviously 2023 hasn't been something he'd be proud of but he's a competitive animal and tries his gut out. He also showed last year he was very composed with ball in hand, he's a pretty good user especially for a key defender, and he has very good closing speed which is super important with so many leading forwards and athletic players.

Confident he'll be apart of our future flag tilt and as the Key Defender at FB.

What in the hell is happening with our list?
We keep signing several of our promising players to longer term contracts.
And Andy Gowers is still our president when I last checked !

Remember what the club's commercial adviser Matthew Berryman (friend of Jeff Kennett) said before our last AGM?

Hawthorn would face an “exodus” of key on and off-field figures if Andy Gowers succeeds as president, according to a club commercial adviser.

See -

Does anyone know if Berryman is still associated with our club?
I hope he has been the only exodus (as well as Vandenberg).

Definitely agree with the sentiment for most being delisted. Who I think will be gone are:

Kozi - can't break into a team with no key forwards
Bramble - seen enough of him at AFL level to see mediocrity
Maginness - love the kid but a one trick pony. Nash does his role but gets the footy too
Jeka - going to need to really find something this year

Some other possibilities:

O'Hara - how long do we persist with him? Looks to be just ok at VFL level
Serong - I think we will give him another year or two
Long - I'm not sold on him, especially if Hust comes along

I hope Morris can make his way back into the side because I like what I saw from him. Same with Seamus.

I think it's likely we will tell Wingard if he stays with us, he might not be ahead of the small forwards we're trying to develop and he will look elsewhere.

Does anyone know the last time Hawthorn delisted a #23?

Just in Regards to Fionn O’Hara! He is new to our game he has moved 1/2 a world away from his home I think he deserves a little extra leeway compared others !
Not sure if you have seen him play this year but he is showing great improvement this year so IMO he will be on our list next year and hopefully beyond.Another with great pace !

Cat B as well and won't free up a list spot for recruits, other then another Cat B.

With Bennetts lighting it up and likely to have another year on the other Cat B spot, I suppose it will be a matter of whether Fionn moves to the Cat A rookie list or has to go if we need the second Cat B spot for, say, Tew Jiath.

I agree - no point in the club putting all this effort into someone like Fionn without giving them plenty of time to hone their skills in Aussie rules.

Based on Gunners form in 2023 so far, his form has fallen away so maybe not as big as loss as i firtst thought.
While I have not really watched Bris this season it could be that Gunners is still finding his feet in a new team. Learning how others play & vice versa

It’s not easy.

Gunners had 10 years of guys knowing his running patterns especially Punky and he also has to know where his team mates will run to if they are in space. As Wahawk said - It's not so easy. I can't see Gunners losing his ability based on the form he had in that last block of games that he has with us.

Will be interesting to see how our backline shakes out in next 12-24 months.

We already have scrim as sub and bramble at BHH with seamus in 1s but have Weddle, morris, BMac all looking promising. And rumoured interest in doedee as well.

If some of the young guys come on (you’d hope weddle at a minimum - looks far more comfortable down back vs wing) someone is getting squeezed out or pushed up ground. The upcoming crop seem to have a lot better balance between attack and defence.

This is the correct issue, and not a bad issue. We also need to relatively urgently, try the likes of Scrim, CJ, DGB (if we successfully attract Doedee) even Dimma forward, in my view. Otherwise some long term List decisions need to be made.

All that said, I do tend to be impatient about development and List improvement. Fundamentally, we do need to get games and time into many.
