With the development of Mitchell and Morris, I wonder if we'd accept a good pick for Dimma. I know the Saints have asked about him a few times.
I would expect it to have to be banditry in our favour.
Dimma is a class above defensively and though Morris is similar, he hasn't developed nearly as much and I think our list needs Dimma almost more than it does Sicily at this point.

Definitely agree with the sentiment for most being delisted. Who I think will be gone are:

Kozi - can't break into a team with no key forwards
Bramble - seen enough of him at AFL level to see mediocrity
Maginness - love the kid but a one trick pony. Nash does his role but gets the footy too
Jeka - going to need to really find something this year

Some other possibilities:

O'Hara - how long do we persist with him? Looks to be just ok at VFL level
Serong - I think we will give him another year or two
Long - I'm not sold on him, especially if Hust comes along

I hope Morris can make his way back into the side because I like what I saw from him. Same with Seamus.

I think it's likely we will tell Wingard if he stays with us, he might not be ahead of the small forwards we're trying to develop and he will look elsewhere.

Does anyone know the last time Hawthorn delisted a #23?

Agreed, probably one of those trades that just isn't possible due to Dimma being worth so much more to us than the open market would suggest.

Contracts count for nothing. If Sammy tells him he can play out his contract with BH, look at his options elsewhere or retire with a well-paid assistant position, he might decide to retire. I'm not saying it will happen. His form could improve and he could be jumping out of his skin at season's end but it is certainly a discussion point.
Can you imagine telling a 3 x premiership hero, who only a few months earlier you convinced to stay at the club as a leader, who’s role it is to mentor those around plus kick goals and is the highest goal scorer at the club, that we’re just gonna play him at Box Hill next year so he leaves… FMD

I would be incredibly surprised if Worpel wasn't a Hawk long term
If he plays the way he did on the weekend then I don't think we will benefit from moving him on. But if we keep playing him off a HFF then it might be best to scope out some offers. I hope he stays, as a full-time mid with his confidence back I think he can be a really solid workhorse that supports our more dynamic mids like Nash, Newk, Day and Mackenzie.

And as someone else said, a lot will depend on how Stephens develops too

Yeh Worps has been good to very good most games this year.

Be weird if we got rid of him just as he started to get his 2019 form back!

I really liked the midfield paring on the weekend of Newk, Nash and Worps. Seemed to really click as a group.
Worpel gets pantsted for his kicking efficiency, but when I watch Tim Taranto, I see the exact same player.

Yet Taranto was worth 2 firsts and a 7 year deal

I think Taranto is a slightly better player but no doubt, in my opinion, Tigs paid too much. Don’t start me on Hopper. Tigs issue and don’t care.
I agree that Taranto is a better player, but I just don't think its by that much.
He has the same flaws as Worpel, a year older but is seen in such a different light to be given a 7 year deal. I don't think the difference is that much.

Is Nash already the best version we could hope for Finn?

I sort of felt the game Nash played on the weekend is going to put real pressure on Finn moving forward.

From what I've seen, I haven't seen Finn as a strong clearance player at all, and his running power is never going to be used to generate attacking plays. Like Weddle's may be.

I think Finn's role is purely as a tagger, so it largely comes down to is this something Sam wants long term. Every chance it is.

Nash didn't shut Green down, he still had 12 touches and 5 of his 9 clearances in the second half. Nash just matched him in terms of providing a physical presence.

Finn shuts down players and has taken them out of the game. Hopefully he gets a chance to show that's not the only thing he can bring to the side though.

I'd say Worps is, if anything a slightly better kick than Taranto.

Given space and time I have seen James do some very nice passes into our forward 50 over the years.

And of course he does the odd Worps clanger by hand and foot.

Worps is still having a very good year though, I'm liking what he is bringing to the table.

I was thinking the same thing. I suppose almost all options are open at this point in our development.

Though Morris will have to work his way into the side and start performing for this to be a possibility, unless of course Hardwick himself wants to move to avoid a protracted rebuild.
