Hopefully Silvagni is looking at this match and thinking... "I prefer to stay"

The only thing worse than tonight was hearing he’d have to play under Voss again

Not sure about Sidey's decision to bring his kids in to view a Craig McRae spray haha

History says teams that lose by this much this close to finals just don't win the flag. (think Sydney losing to Port last year)

Hawthorn '86 probably the last example of it happening. The longer the game has gone on, the less I'm buying that Hill, McCreery and Howe can change this level of crapness.
Hawks smashed pies by about 85 at Waverley in 1990 around round 20 ans they went on to win

The last 2 good examples of a premier getting properly belted this close to September would have to be West Coast 1994 and West Coast 2006

West Coast 1994 lost to Carlton by 64 points in Round 22 and seemingly lost the minor premiership... only for Carlton to shit the bed against Essendon and the Eagles smoke Footscray in Round 24, then win all 3 finals while Carlton went out in straight sets

Then the 2006 Eagles lost the Round 21 Derby to a rampaging Freo by 57 points but got let off the hook by the Crows losing the Showdown to Port that afternoon... the next week the Eagles thumped Richmond to win the minor premiership, and ultimately overcame the Swans by the narrowest of margins
