What kind of card mate? It's not my birthday.

Due to injuries we are a middle-of-the-road side ATM, so the next few weeks will be more of the same crap we dished up today unfortunately, with games we would normally win convincingly now being 50/50

It's not just the fact we have missing players but that we are getting more every week which means a constant rotation of players. Up to 3-4 changes every week means no continuity of games into players like Stratton and Hodge and also no continuity with a settled team playing with each other regularly.

Surprised so many have mentioned Simpkin as an out, I thought he was very good. Would rather Suckling miss now that Litherland seems to have made himself a regular

It must of been one bad Ankle injury he did. Seems like it's been dragging on and on.

He tore ligaments.

I tore the ligaments in my ankle a few years back and I was on crutches for about 2-3 weeks. I couldn't put any weight on it and I had bruising from the tip of my toes to my calf. It was very painful and did take a long time to heal.

We've just got to keep grinding out these results.

There's always a period in the season where a team drops away, the trick is to keep winning. We did that really well last year, not so well in 2012 and in the end those early dropped games in 2012 meant we were stuffed by Finals time. It's different this year, injuries mean that we are a big chance of not making the Top 4 so even having a full side in Finals won't really help. If we can just win - somehow - we're going to be in a great position at the pointy end.

Outs: Hale (rest), Simpkin, Suckling, Doc
Ins: Big Boy, Lewis, Stratts, Woodward

Cheney takes Doc's spot
Litherland takes Suckling spot
Ceglar been good for us, Hale needs to get some VFL form
Suckling, Doc just miss out. Bring in Stratts to bolster the backline and Woody to bring in that terrier mentality that was missing today...

Im glad that they went with Bolton as replacement and not you

Very true
We are very lucky that, for the most part, the competition only has 4-5 good sides in it, the rest are very ordinary, and our depth, while ok, can hopefully be competitive while we have to cover so many injuries
We wouldn't want to lose anyone else though, as we are stretched to the max now
Next 2 weeks would normally be solid wins, but now become genuine 50/50 matches

Hale will miss at least a week with a quad injury. Hopefully Big Boy is fit enough to return otherwise we will unleash the Lowden!
I don't knowing about this Hale injury, but if it is anything other than a corky he's looking at 3 weeks plus. Particularly if it's a quad strain.

Yep.... a bag of frozen peas aint gonna fix this one

If we keep going this way your preview threads grizzlym will just read:

Hawthorn vs xxx - Outs and who the opposition will let us use from their extended squads so that we can fill a team.

All of this is done in hope by the way -

What I want this sheet to say -

Ins - Clarko, Lewis, Mitchell, Lake, Gibson, Rioli, McEvoy, Stratton, Whitecross, Anderson and maybe Spangher
Outs - The Hex

Will Probably read more like -

INS: Lewis, McEvoy, Stratton
OUTS: Hartung (rest), Hale (Rest / Quad), Cheney (Height),

B: Duryea - Shoe - Litherland
HB: Birchall - Stratton - Hodge
C: Hill - Sewell - Smith
HF: Gunston - Roughead - Breust
F: Poppy - Ceglar - Burgoyne
Fol: McEvoy - Lewis - Langford
Int: Shiels - Suckling - Hallahan
Sub - Simpkin

Geez, it is looking a less talented side every week at the moment. Still competitive against mid range sides but lucky we didn't have games against any quality like the Power or Swans during this time. Wait....Wuh.

This side should be competitive against the Eagles and Blues but the team sheets need to start reading a whole lot more quality ins than quality outs over the next month or we are cooked.

This is worse than 2009 and 2011 by a mile now, so it shows how far we have come.

This is probably worth us thinking about, with all of the outs we have had and the fact they keep rolling in each week, our guys will need about 4 or 5 weeks at the end of the season to hit full flite as a team together. These guys have had bugger all time together through this year and we need to build a bit of cohesion toward the finals.

Time to see if Woody can make a contribution at AFL level.
Without Mitchell, Lewis and Rioli our midfield lacks a bit of class.
The GWS boys made our guys look a bit pedestrian. Good honest toilers but we need a bit of class to add to Burgoyne's silk.
If Lewis is back I find it hard to fit Sewell and Hallahan into the same team unless it is a very wet day at Aurora.
Note to Graeme Wright: keep looking for that classy young mid we need.
We have a couple of them, they are injured or still developing. Anderson is an extremely classy mid and what I have seen of Hartung and Langford at the elite level suggests that both of those guys will add class to our midfield rotations overt he next few years. That's not to say I am against us chasing... oh I don't know.... Lachie Whitfield. I wish we could get this kid to the club.
