Daylight savings became increasingly obsolete with the ubiquity of outdoor lighting. It was invented for Victorian English to spend more time outside recreating themselves, and less time indoors, because in that time all the working class really did were work, go home and then probably get drunk. Almost all the arguments for keeping it are invalid (saves lighting costs etc.). But it's ingrained in the culture, and tied to good memories of summer.People in WA, who never grew up with it, don't really get it when it's been forced on them.

Thought Daylight savings was invented due to WW1 in an attempt to minimise energy use and conserve it for the war efforts.
It was promoted as such, but was invented by some toff who wanted to go bug collecting in summer before the war.

It's existed in various forms in lots of cultures over a long period of time apparently, though I think that's just pro daylight savings propaganda

It was implemented nationally for the first time in WW1, but there had already been pushed in parliament in England prior to that. I did an assignment in university about the moralising forces of the upper classes in England on the working class, daylight savings was one of those things regarded as bringing 'culture' to the masses. It was first fully implemented by the Austro-Hungarians for the purpose of increasing production and savings energy, a totally different reason to its original conception.

Final squad been named?
From memory, I think it will be named just prior to the game. We'll pretty much be naming it ourselves as we watch the team take to the field(no doubt the commentators will be waffling on about something else at that point).

Wondering aloud, with no previously agreed agenda at all, no siree, how those pesky Swiss were able to cheat our brave 34. How the mighty Essendon have had their opportunity to win a flag stolen from them. Oh, here's Hawthorn....

I have found from experience its best not to even go there (Telstra).
Telstra=simple things made complicated. Faaark knows how they make soooo much profit when they are so inefficient.

I had a similar experience last year. I'll just be patient and wait twelve hours.

God, I hate the scheming, deceptive pricks. If they're going to have a trial period, well and good. But it's just plain morally corrupt to grab a few more $ from the average Joe like me who can't find their way through the maze to cancel.

Not quite

It was used by the allies to minimize interceptions during key operations

Read it in a book a few yrs ago
The number of pieces of sage advice from grandma that is war misinformation gone wild is scary

Great to see Brendan Whitecross named in the squad.

Looking forward to seeing how Webster goes in his first ever pre-season game across the half back flank.
wonder if Brendan will wear the vote catching, multi coloured socks he has been wearing at training

The trick is to sign up using the code then immediately cancel. This is what I did last year and it still spans the nab challenge period. I agree though, they are snakes in how they handle that next payment.

On topic of the game, didn't see Shem in any of the training pics/vid today so I suspect we wont see him tomorrow.
