Hawthorn's Premeirship tally - A result of zoning and nothing else

Pretty coincidental that as soon as the Hawfs find out we've won more flags than them, they bump this thread at a desperate attempt to make it all about them.

Talk about insecure.

What ever happened to old button masher FTRAIN?

He probably went where all the other Geelong flogs went...

Watch them all pile back in when the Cats finish top four.

Well not quite. Colin Carpenter lost out as the AFL told them to G&GF'ed and piss their Geelong West pennants up the wall...

Oh and the Cats are still financially insolvent

16 > 13 all day long. :)

Im not sure this is the case. There are still concerns as to the existence and validity of the great 1870s teams. I mean Geelong couldn't be ****ed recognising the titans of the gold rush as part of their 150 year celebrations.

I feel like this is a distraction from the impending financial squeeze befalling the Geelong Cats and the Geelong community more generally (especially with Ford giving the community the arse :) )

Of course it is. 16 > 13 all day long.

Possibly but it's a pretty fukknn good one that has you chumps absolutely beside yourselves whilst flip flopping around in shoes that are a few sizes too big. :D:thumbsu:

Hamill's comments on the St.Kilda culture though showed that nothing had changed in the 30 years since Russell Greene left.

I'll feed your strawman, here's a post of mine from 2009 re Hamill

Culture changer, he earned his $ and we lost no one due to salary cap issues. We got 4 good years out of him in which time we went from laughing stock to perennial top 4 contender.

We'd kill for him at the moment, wishing we could recruit that style of player for a fraction of the price. The pressure Hamill used to apply was enormous and can't be measured in stats alone.

it's no coincidence he's still at the Saints, the biggest impact on turning the culture around at the Saints in my time are the three MPNFL boys, Loewe, Harvey, Burke - Hamill and Carlton reject Kenny Sheldon.

No question.

Lol at using the pathetic Saints culture to try to dismiss hard scientific facts about how the Mayblooms were given unprecedented advantages over every other club and had all their flags gifted to them.

I guess it's hard to deal with your life's work being destroyed by the #threepeat.

that strawman bow is longer than your bump

there is no asterix on Hawthorns 2008 premiership, nor their first.

happy to admit there are no free kicks attributable to the flags of this millennium, as the above quote would obviously imply.

My personal opinion is that Hawthorn moneyballed solid users of the football, and Clarko implemented a system that exploited this advantage over other teams. No free kick attributable, unlike the "country zone" era.

Sounds like you're acknowledging my point - Your culture sucked bawls.

I said that at the start of the thread.

Good to have you on board. :thumbsu:

Why havent the Aints been able to add to their flag count this century. Still I only count 2 spoons this century which is a positive

As for th culture changer. The Aints have 'won' a spoon since 2009 and are of course financially insolvent with a shrinking membership, revenue base and pathetic crowds. The Aints belong in the old VFA, yes?

Here we go again...

All clubs had zones. Essendon won flags in 84-85 with a plethora of zone selections but only AFTER Sheedy arrived.

Geelong finished top of the ladder in 1980.

Hawthorn won flags from 71 to 91, with 8 players coming from the MPNFL and yet WE got a massive free kick from our zone?

Please. Every club had the same opportunities. Some worked hard at making the culture of their club better and some didn't.

My personal opinion is that Hawthorn moneyballed solid users of the football, and Clarko implemented a system that exploited this advantage over other teams. No free kick attributable, unlike the "country zone" era.

So Clarkson picked players who had certain characteristics he needed.

That takes me back to Russell Greene. When a player like him comes out and says your club was a shambles - he lived it.

St.Kilda had champions at their club but the culture of the place was terrible.

Whose fault is that?

Certainly got nothing to do with their zone.

Might be time you accept the fact that your club has had severe issues for a long time and THAT is what is responsible for your poor record rather than making yourself feel better by blaming someone else.

an extra metro zone or two would suffice.

or maybe we could pinch the Giants academy? That's starting to smell like the Hawks free kick.

The whole zones thing is a cop out that shit truck minnow clubs use to detract from the elephant in the room. That these looser clubs should never really be in the VFL/AFL to begin with...

Through Peter Hudson, Waverley Park, Tasmania, Ethiad (over the MCG) and recently New Zealand the Aints havd followed everything the 55/13 Hawks have done and failed abysmally. Heck they even stole the Hawthorn pelican and farked it up...

You could give the Aints the best young talent time on the planet (cough 2000-02) and they would invariably find a way to **** up, sack 2-3 coaches, burn a dwarf, expose themselves to a couple of schoolgirls, play last shots with a couple of unsuspecting partners and shit the bed against two of the biggest GF chockers in history (becoming the first GF'st in 25 years to lead at 3/4 time and throw a GF away)

We all know that if Hawthorn took on New Zealand it would likely be gangbusters by now. For success and achievement is ingrained in the culture of the Hawthorn FC...its success is the centrepiece of its DNA

not worth my time

even guzzlejizz pwnwd you on that diversionary strawman

if you want to play circle work I'll quote myself

If I was jealous of Hawthorn's zone induced success I'd barrack for them. I chose to barrack for Liverpool because they won everything, I understand the concept. Diversionary grasping at straws on the Saints won't change that

The biggest free kick in football history, give Geoff Ogilvy a hole head start and he's the greatest golfer of all time. Sure he still needs to get the job done but it just became a whole lot easier.

I'm not sure why there's a St Kilda lesson in that post, I'm sure it has some relevance somewhere, me personally, I'm quite aware of St Kildas shortcomings.

As I said previously, I have the same opinion on the zone concessions that created the Brisbane superteam and I can be pretty darn sure they didn't cost St Kilda any flags.

But I guess it has St Kilda under my user name and it is the Bigfooty simpletons way to diflect using that very fact.

as I said, i stand by the first 11 pages on the greatest free kick in history.
