Great article...outside of this thread I haven't come across anyone else watching it, so it does start to make you go a bit nuts trying to figure out what it all means, this helps, thanks!

Yeah, none of my friends or family watch it either. Probably coz it's not all shallow bling like NCIS and Criminal Minds.

I'm comfortable with that.

Mrs G started with Ep 1...too dark for her, gave up.

My wife loves those 2 other shitty shows I mentioned, but she watches TD with me and she enjoys it. I think it's coz she can see how much I'm loving it so she tries to participate. That and we only have the one tv.:D

There is a fair bit of distraction that happens as well.

So I go back and look at 52min at S03 and the lawn mower man. Marty toots horn, Rust looks, the scene cuts just as the mower man turns his head and we see his scar. Yeh no big deal except Marty toots the horn and Rust starts walking back. Marty in car dryly says 'Walk any slower'...boom, I chuckled then and lost the whole scene because I was too busy chuckling at Marty. Very clever little things like that.

I'd be very surprised to see the Yellow King revealed in the last episode.

Seems like just the mcguffin to last through two or three series.

..but its a self contained Season FW, this plot/story doesn't go beyond this finale.

(Am I correct in this Bender_ ?)

I still cant figure out or find out whether S01 The Killing finale was a last minute change or they had that plan the whole time....the problem was that the audience was led to believe that it was self contained...that's why it killed that show and despite bouncing back in S03, the damage was done.

Nevertheless, the buzz on the interwebz is awesome...loving it!

According to the wiki it is. I think it's a great idea coz it won't have a chance to outlive it's welcome like a lot of others shows I've enjoyed have (with these characters at least).

Just been re-watching the opening episode.

Anyone thought of the very opening scene of the series? A figure dragging another through the dark, then a large fire. Whilst this could simply be the/a killer dragging Dora Lange to the spot then burning the cane fields around it, perhaps it was indeed foreshadowing the finale?

Cheers, Flight. I did see that earlier and I am relieved. Being Fair to Nic though, he only wrote a couple of episodes of The Killing.
Also every second episode hasn't had a cliffhanger ending where we learn who the killer is, only to find out next week it was just a red herring. I enjoyed the killing for the most part but this is a on different level in terms of writing.

I'm at work at the moment so I can't look at that video but I was just under the impression that the season was close ended for McConaughey, Harrelson and this particular investigation and that it didn't mean that the Yellow King as an 'entity' couldn't actually span more seasons whatever he/she/it is. There's an underlying vibe to the show that I can't put my finger on (Twin Peaks?) that makes me think that the Yellow King could actually be a concurrent menace. And I'm being fantastickal with this, but kind of like a Pennywise the Clown (not the supernatural element obviously but that type of spook thats always there in some context).

Meh, I'm just musing but I'll be the first person to bring this up when everybody creams their pants because there was a swirl in the second last episode of season two.

...excellent concept...not just a filthy wiz after all.

Are you envisaging Rust carrying a dead Hart away from a fiery mess?

Yep looking at it a few mins ago...the logical thing is its the body getting dragged there, but then again seeing the leaping about in time during the show it could be a very plausible explanation.

I hope this is the end of the "yellow king" storyline. So many other people and stories out there they can write.

If I was guessing, it looks more like Hart dragging Rust.

Sorry?

I'm sure it will be.

Nic P looks in control and knows exactly what he wants to do. Each season will be self-contained, start and end. Maybe not neatly wrapped up, but that will be it. It'll be like finishing a book: no more pages left to turn.

If it was anybody else than HBO, I reckon you'd be getting all sorts of pressure to keep the characters/story going in season 2 in some way.

I dunno, just entertaining your idea, but if one was to go I think it's going to be Marty - he's prone emotional outbursts and would do something risky or sloppy.

Man I can't wait.

Yeah, I'm not fussed about a lack of a neat wrap up, but revisiting the story in any way just wouldn't fit.

True, but if it wasn't HBO, they wouldn't have got McConaughey or Harrelson and the show isn't quite the same.

What was that Bombers2003? :p

Yeah, I just had another look, I am now 80% certain it is Marty and Rust, with the smaller figure (Rust, you can see and outline that looks similar to his hair), helping the larger figure (Marty) along.

My daughter was climbing on me insisting she type the first letter of her name in my post so it got a bit messed up!:p

Going to rewatch that scene now.
