Why would Heath not be getting a final farewell game?? He is playing WAFL still and from reports was ok on the weekend, i dotn understand why he isnt going to be bought back for one last game and a chance to farewell the Freo fans.

iirc it was reported that thinks his body isn't up to the level that he thinks is required at AFL level.

The match committee are probably shitty that he announced his retirement through the media before telling the club too.

I really hope he does get a farewell game. Possibly the game against St Kilda? His old team, plus there is the farewell to belly.
Would seem like the right time.

IMO the match committe can get f*&^ed, Heath has been a brilliant footballer for this club and i for one would love to see him play one more game.

Fair enough. I think after he took off back to Victoria in our darkest hour and then the club being good enough to bring him back after he fell out with Saint Nick that he owed them more than to announce his departure through channel seven just to honour his media deal. Poor form IMO.

Looks really unprofessional when Harvey has his weekly slot on 6PR and he's asked if Heath Black will be getting a send off and Harv's has to reply "Well this is the first I've heard of his plans to retire".

Easy their big fella:rolleyes:

Heath has been a great player for our club but he has gone about his retirement entirely the wrong way.

He told Barra that he was retiring before he told the club or his teammates..thats pathetic

I get the feeling that since Harves has cracked down on onfield discipline that Heath has reacted really badly to this and hence hasn`t been given an automatic selection as he would have in the past. As good as he has played for Freo he showed how selfish he could be by giving away stupid free kicks and attempting to rough up kids when sent back to the WAFL.

Thats not the sort of player that deserves a game and for all we know he may get a send-off later in the year if he pulls his finger out and actually works out with the club what he plans to do from here on in.

Yep, dissapointing he owes the club at least that courtesy. As much as I like him, I'm over him at the moment.

There's been no official announcement as yet, and he sure as hell wouldn't want to rain on Shauny Mac's parade and do it this week.

Farewell game for Blacky against St Kilda, round 20. That's what I reckon, anyway. :thumbsu:

he did say on 6PR breakfast yesterday that the odds are that he wouldn't play for freo again, shoulder injury, and the club and his management are negotiating a fair end to it all as he is contracted next year.

I think that Heath has struggled all year.I am not at all suprised that he is giving it away.
I am sure the club will give him a send off of some sort.Drive around the ground or something.

Probably will do in the last home game - macca's game this week, Blackys the week after.

Hopefully the opposition does a better job than last time one of our players retired.
