Just saw footage of the report on both channel Ten and Seven news.

He will get off.

Ball was in the vicinity, contact was medium at worst, contact was to body.

It will be thrown out by MRP judged on what I saw.

Congratulations for Mclaren for another terrible report.

Eyes on the ball the whole time, and then braced for impact at the last second after he had commited himself.

Accidental clash, free kick only.

i didn't see it but surely he deserves at least 3 weeks?!

HEHE.:p.
Only an Essendon or Carlton supporter would think that. (hope there's none on the MRP)

never got the guy high,
just body contact,
if he gets suspended it just
shows how the afl is changing
the game from a contact sport

There was so little in it is amazing it attracted a free let alone a report.
The free's were again totally inconsistent and I'm really getting sick of the ****ing soft interpretation of hands in the back.

If Shaw goes for any time at all it will be part of the payback for Collingwood embarrassing the dumb ***** at the tribunal on the Maxwell appeal.

Malcom Blight's commentary of the incident;

"Rivers was brave, but all Heath Shaw did was when he knew he was under the ball, he turned his body to protect himself"

"If you can;t turn your body to protect yourself anymore, all the rules in this game should be thrown out"

Looks like we have a witness.

He should be fine. You guys shouldn't have to worry about this one.

Good to see Heater's ANZAC medal hasn't been forgotten amongst the events of late last year. :thumbsu:

Yeh Blighty as much as I don't rate him as a commentator was spot on. Going for the ball turns to protect himself at the last second, contact was neither late nor high.

I think it's an area the rules committee are getting it wrong, there should be a certain responsibility on all players to protect themselves as well as teh rules protecting them. It's a contact sport and you need awareness and peripheral vision.

Collingwood's Heath Shaw has been cleared by the AFL's Match Review Panel after it met on Monday afternoon.

The match day report laid against Collingwood’s Heath Shaw for engaging in rough conduct against Melbourne’s Jared Rivers from Saturday’s match was assessed. Shaw ran in to the play with his eyes on the ball at all times to contest a marking situation.

The Collingwood player left the ground and, at the last moment before inevitable contact occurred, he realised he was out of the contest and turned to protect himself and lessen the impact. It was the view of the panel the player was not doing anything other than seeking to contest the ball. No further action was taken.

Contact between Collingwood’s John Anthony and Melbourne’s Jared Rivers from the fourth quarter of Saturday’s game was assessed. Anthony’s left arm wrapped around the Melbourne player and he then pushed him slightly with his right hand.

The momentum of both players saw Rivers fall forward and make contact with the fence. Given the negligible impact between the players and between Rivers and the fence, it was determined that no further action was required.

The ump was clearly in his rights to report him, if wouldve been concerned if he wasnt reported.
But the right decision has been made, everyone is happy!!

Collingwood should appeal to the AFL for Scott Mclaren to be reported and suspended for making such a stupid report in the first place.

It was a free kick, and barely that, so Mclaren should be punished.

The result is exactly as it should be and the MRP has worked as it should.
Umpires are always going to make erroneous reports. The only time it becomes a problem is if the error is carried through the system.

Good result.:thumbsu:
