mtmen need more than a couple of players from what i saw

Maybe so banana man, but lets not take anything away from the team they faced. Some are quick to forget that elmore finished equal top with colbo last year on points and have only lost hayes(replaced by lobb) and schubert who was injury riddled last year. They have recruited quietly and have depth, something they lacked last year, hence the straight sets exit.
For mine, they are a top 4 team and will play finals, dont be surprised if they finish top two....
they along with locky and heathcote will be the pace setters of the competition.

Totally agree, levorage. Good to see your back on the Saints although you should be, you're our accountant!;)

Can anyone give a run down of the games they saw?
How teams looked etc. As the scoreboard doesn't always paint a true reflection.
Very interested in the north colbo game.

You didnt miss much. Scrapy contested play, terrible skills both teams and only a few players in the game for the full 4 quarters. In saying that I think James had 1 goal until half time and kicked 6? in total. You can just guess he will kick 5 a game but if he does they dont have alot of other scoring options. And wont chase. I reckon backline did their job for Colbo as you give him 6 every game and let them find other options to goal.
Jeremy Brown was best for Colbo along with Hill and throw a blanket over another 6 or 7 after that IMO.
First game of the year and both teams will improve as the game was Ugly in patches and without any flow.
Maybe thats the new North Bendigo game plan like Sydney. Close it down?
Either way didnt work first up.
Can I make a dishonourable mention to the umpires as well as one of the worst games officiated EVER. I think both supporters can back me up on that. Whilst the footballers need to get better so do the umpires.

was there at colbo and iv seen better back yard umpiring

Its a worrying trend across the board. We dont wanna start umpire bashing, as they are short on numbers as it is, its not an easy job and Ive no doubt they are all having a crack and doing as best they can....but in the LVFL, the same thing occured. Biggest match of the Round with Marong up against Pyramid, and it appeared the umpires were totally out of there depth.

There positioning in play to make decisions, there inability to keep up with the pace of the game, and general inconsistency with decision making...its awfully frustrating for players and spectators alike.

But, at the end of the day, aslong as they are consistent (even if that means consistently ordinary!) then its the same for both sides. Lets hope with more numbers and better training they can improve accross the board.

I thought you didnt see much of that game BG?

In the LBU v Hills match the umpires, it seemed, would rather pick out a free kick that let play continue. There was also alot of free kick around goals and inside the 50s. Its a hard job and they do cop alot of flack but they say the best umpires are the ones you dont notice

I dont think the football was terrible, pretty big ground at colbo and it can expose some players early on in a season. Nth moved the ball as good as iv seen in HDFL in the third quarter but the same old story.... Some will say fitness, but my eyes saw inexperience. Young side Nth, wont win the flag and may not make the four but will scare s#!t out of sides. Moving on, how was elmore! Mounts gone from chocolates to boiled lollies

Glad to see big Jamesy kick a few :thumbsu: Word from the Kilmore camp at a RDFL doo a fortnight ago was backed up by talk at our game Saturday that the RDFL Blues still see themselves a chance at getting the big fella home at some stage this season. . . . . . f**k I hope not

what do you think about young recruit cody bravo from eaglehawk

Bravo showed that he could play on the weekend by kicking 4 nice goals.
He's very quick over 20 metres, and could be very damaging for the Hillies this year.

Also, contrary to popular belief, he is not a gaylord.

Dont stress doona, spoke with the big man and kilmore are no chance. But then again, it is Central Victoria and nothing surpises me here! Blokes chop and change clubs like head lice in a kindergarten!

My season ladder is:

Lockington
Elmore
Heathcote
Colbo
Nth Bendigo
Mounts
White Hills
Huntly

James to win goal kicking and Baker to win League

I think Green Grass is actually a Heathcote supporter trying to take a bit of pressure of themselves. There is a bit of pressure on them though Grandfinal loss last year when the whole town expected a win, no premiership for 20 years, and this year have gone all out to rectify it you guys must have been cursing when all these big name recruits came in to the league this year. Sorry boys Locky premiers for me

True or not true?

The big man did get a bit angry at one point, pointing people out in the crowd and tellling them to come out for a go, at one point he started punching the ground, there's now a canyon in the forward pocket at Colbo. He did cop a bit of abuse though.
He has the best hands ive seen i reckon, but for a bloke with a rumoured price tag of $1400 it doesnt look like hes been training. Unfit, slow, didnt chase at all, he could hardly even run fullstop.

I think he is a bloke who does get fitter as he plays. I dont think he would have done a pre season for a few years but I expect after about 4-5 games he will tear some backmen a new arse. Too big, smart and positions himself to mark most balls

Well said GG, any footballer with half a brain would agree with that statement. God help anyone who plays on him after round 4 or five!
