Alright, my laptop died a noble death and after years of being a PC gamer I have elected not to purchase a new on and get a console. I have owned a PS1 before and an NES (yep the original).

Soooo, time for the fan boy's to help me. PS3 or XBOX360? Which one charges for online gaming?

I assume both have exclusive titles (can you get Halo series on PS3?)

And what's with the different GB models? Do the save games use massive MB's or does the entire game stay on a HD these days???

Thanks in advance!

Nope.:thumbsd::thumbsd:

Does any of your friends have an Xbox360 or a PS3?

This here is the most important question of all.

I have Xbox 360 but most of my friends have a PS3. My gaming experience would be far increased if i could kill/beat down my friends online.

Playing with quality friends far outweighs what console you have IMO

A massive hard drive's only needed if you want to download games from the PSN/XBLA or use it as a media centre and have lots of movies/tv shows on there.

Definitely just get another PC. I have a Wii, ps3 and xbox but still play PC games much much more (cheaper games, know more people)

I mainly use the PS3 though if you insist on a console...

Nah getting a good PC with good graphics just costs to much then having to constantly update it as technology progresses just has finally given me the shits.

Did my research and decided on a PS3, but god-damn 500g's? Surely they are kidding...

Have you tried both controllers? You don't want to get a PS3 and find out its too small for you and that the bigger 360 one would be better.

I've had both consoles and the 360 one is too big for my hands and the PS3 one fits better.

If i was only going to get one then I think you've come to the right conslusion, although both have there pros and cons.

The ps3 for mine has a better line up of exclusive titles. But other than that there isn't a whole lot of difference in game libraries as 90% of games these days are multi platform.

The ps3 itself is just a better piece of hardware. Much more reliable, bluray support and just overall a better ui.

However i think the 360 has the better controller. Even with the terrible d-pad still think it's the best controller of all time. Also the online is slightly better although you have to pay for it. I mainly do my online gaming on pc, but i haven't noticed a huge amount of difference between live and psn in terms of usability.

I do believe that the new models of 360 are much more reliable than the old models however.

500GBs not enough? Unless you're planning on putting a tonne of videos on your PS3 you won't use it all up. I've got heaps of video files on my PS3 and I haven't used up 500GB. Game installs use up very little space, it's still disc based mainly.

Do you have the TV to handle the graphics of the PS3?

I mean, you wouldn't want to play it on a CRT TV or anything like that.

I have a 40" plasma and a 32"LCD,

Game saves are generally tiny. From a few KB's to 11MB at the most. Don't think it'd differ too much from PC save files?

As for Hard Drive space, anything about 150GB will last you at least 2-3+ years depending on what you buy/download. Patches won't be too big, game installs can vary from game to game (some with none, some with a few GB's), demo's can be anywhere from 1-3GB and your average downloadable title won't go up above 1.5GB too often.

Probably pay to do your research on the best games/franchises on each console and see what suits your needs/likes.

Halo (FPS), Gears of War (TPS), Fable (RPG Adventure), Forza (Racing) for 360.

Killzone (FPS), Uncharted (TPS Adventure), inFAMOUS (Superhero TPS), Gran Turismo (Racing), God of War (Hack N Slash) for PS3.

Those being the most notable from each console.
If you really want a console go with a 360, you like shooters yeah? Plus 360 is more like a PC.
This guy is talking from experience. So definitely listen to him.

You should stick to PC imo.

A 360 like a pc more so than the ps3 hmmmmmmm care to explain?

I have both consoles but i prefer the PS3 myself, imo the PS3 has the better exclusives.

Agreed, listen to Kerrby.

  • Xbox 360 has the best controller, so much more comfortable to use.
  • 360 has more people playing online.
  • 360 has WAY better online.
  • 360 has better games in the download-front.
  • 360 has Kinect in you're into that kind of thing.
  • 360 has more games and classics that came out before the PS3 did.

There we go.

.Debatable on the controller, my hands hurt after a bit with the 360 controller, this doesn't happen on the DS3 unless it's a racing game that i use R2/L2 a lot.
.How is it better online, imo thats the biggest load of bullshit people can say about online gaming, i dont see any difference.
.Agree with the downloadable games.
