with Henderson, Jaensch and Thompson all being upgraded with our last 3 draft picks, I was just wondering what the thoughts are on their true draft currency for this years draft....

Hendo - is he a potentail late round 0ne - early round two
Jaensch - is a round 2 selection a fair grading or early round 3
Thompson - would he be a round 3 even though most of us rate him higher than that

Well, I don't think Rendell would've accepted a trade for a pick outside the top 10-12 for Henderson, so I guess that's how valuable he is to us (not necessarily in the whole comp, with all draftees measured against each other). Jaensch wouldn't be traded for anything above pick 20ish, Thompson maybe 30? So I reckon you're pretty close to the mark there.

Probably a bit simplistic, but its really the only way to look at it without going into an insanely comprehensive analysis. We have been incredibly lucky that Rendell is a gun who snared all these awesome rookies, without them we'd be forced to do a massive rebuild through the next two drafts which would've been simply awful.

To us he'd be worth a top 10, but there's no way you'd get any buyers giving up a top 10 DP.
that is correct. top 10 status is only based on potential at this stage. he has massive potential, and we've only seen the start of his career so far.

Draft currency is very different to trade currency. If they were all in this draft, and draft age they would go very high. However because they are all mature age, they would go low as recruiters would wonder why they had not already been picked up by a club. Recruiters are always looking for that diamond that no one else has found. Fact of the matter is they are few and far between and most of the diamonds everyone always knows about these days.

Seeing as we already know what they're capable of, the only thing that we really have to go by is trade currency. In this case, we're a very happy little bunch of vegemites :thumbsu:
