Hmmm really worried about Gilbee.

Team is almost perfect too.
Can't free up 60K for Bowden. Don't want to downgrade... unless Goddard is named. But even that is risky.

I upgraded him to peter B, im not sure if i want to risk it with gilbee

aslo

Would anyone have Cox AND Mcintosh (or another 400+ ruckman) so you dont have to worry about the ruckman all year.

Backs aren't bad, Mids and Rucks are really strong but Fwds are pretty thin.

I would cut back on the rucks and try and get some money from somewhere else to improve your fwds. IMO only.

Not bad. I'd maybe look at downgrading Rob Murphy and upgrading Fev. Personally, i'm happy to pass on Murphy until he shows something on the field. Fevola just too up and down for me - you never know what you're going to get

I just think Stevens will be used off the bench for the first few games. Its a gamble but i'll try to pick him up say round 3 or 4.

Dude, seriously trades are valuable, dont waste them. :thumbsu:

These dilemmas are killing me!

I'll try be efficient...

1) Steve Johnson OR Lance Franklin?

2) Tom Hawkins OR Nathan Thompson?

3) Tadgh Kennelly OR Brad Symes

4) Scott D Thompson (DEF) OR Albert Proud

5) Jason Porplyzia OR Brett Burton

Cheers!

You never look at a gun players pre season. If you watched the St.Kilda games closely you would have seen that Dal Santo started most games on the bench and was used sparingly by Lyon. He commands a high price and is a proven performer.
Dalsanto will surely come down in price early on as i doubt he will be able maintain the average his price commands so i would much prefer to pick him up later. There are so many great midfielders that are far cheaper and would give you greater value hence allowing you to spend big on the forwards and backs where you need it the most as theres not as much value in these positons.I cant see any reason why you would have any midfielder over 580k as its just wasting money where its not needed

Folks- I’ve painted myself into a corner with this team I think. I must admit I’ve forgotten the last team I offered up for your perusal, but I do know it was somewhat different to the current one…

Backs:
Cornes, Gilbee, Milburn, Shaw, Barlow, Proud, L. Hansen
Pfeiffer, Taylor

Mids:
Dal Santo, Ablett, Pearce, Johnstone, Gibbs, Houli
Palmer, Bird

Rucks:
Gilmore, Leuenberger
Kreuzer, Meeson

Forwards:
Pavlich, Riewoldt, Brown, Burton, Porplyzia, Bradshaw, Jetta
Tippett, Rioli

So- I think I’ve covered all the areas reasonably, but I’ve still got about $250K left, which tells me that either I’m an absolute SC genius, or more likely I’m a delusional eejit, and have left massive gaps.
Given I’m correct about the latter, let’s have a look, shall we?

Backs- big names there, but also two young’ns who should perhaps be more comfortable warming the pine. I’m thinking downgrade one of the big players down a little (Shaw or Milburn mebbe- I have too much lurve for Lindsay and Chad), move one (most likely Hansen) out altogether and look for someone still handy, but a little cheaper- Mundy, Johncock, Waters, Birchall etc- all around $450K. I do that and I’ve got $350K to play with.

Mids- Well- with the war chest I’ve built from above, I can have pretty much anyone if I want to replace any of the starters aside from Houli, but even if I don’t use all of it, I can perhaps find better- even Houli can turn into Priddis or Cooney or Stanton etc etc). I’m tempted to leave mostly as is except swap Ablett for Corey- it’s just a hunch I’ve got- can’t explain it.

Rucks-
The weak spot in SC, and which is why I’ve not walked the CoxSimmons path- I am prepared to be persuaded otherwise, but I always think- could I use the $200K it will take Gilmore to become Cox (or even the smaller savings if I take Mcintosh or White or whichever other one you care to choose) to greater all over effect? More often than not, the answer is yes.

Forwards.
For a hell of a long time Burton was big Q Lynch. So now I have two injury prone potential big scorers in Bradshaw and Birdman, one semi smokey (and the second starting Croweater, which really sticks in my throat after GF 1997, but let's not live in the past), and one real smokey (not to mention another bloody Crow on the bench, but that can change- see below). I think I can do better, but it depends on what I do with the other positions.

I’m assuming that I might shift one or two of the bench players around once the teams come out tomorrow as well, so let’s not think too closely about them- they’re pretty interchangeable for the purposes of this discussion really (dollar terms mostly…)

Anyway- apologies for the length- I keep thinking I’m so close to getting this right, but I really need a couple of alternative perspectives.

Cheers,

These dilemmas are killing me!

I'll try be efficient...

1) Steve Johnson OR Lance Franklin? though I think Buddy's in for a big year. Johnson is just a safer bet.

2) Tom Hawkins OR Nathan Thompson? Ideally neither. I don't think Thompson's much of an SC player, though based on price alone he's not a bad pick - under 300k and a guaranteed first team player.

3) Tadgh Kennelly OR Brad Symes. Kennelly, when fit is a great SC player. However I'd be a little wary early on, few injury issues in pre-season and dislocated his shoulder the other day during a praccy match.

4) Scott D Thompson (DEF) OR Albert Proud. Who knows really. But based on pre-season form.

5) Jason Porplyzia OR Brett Burton. I've gone for Burton in my team. I think Porplyzia will be good this year though, probably a consistent 80ish average. Burton's ceiling is potentially a lot higher though. He's capable of pulling in those big 100+ scores.

Cheers!

Hope that helps

Its more a case that youve got massive gaps.Youve gone for 2 overpriced midfielders which has upset your balance as i cant see you getting too much out of your other 4 starting midfielders
Same with your backs.Seriously how much are you going to get out of Proud,Hansen and Barlow starting
Your rucks are laughable.Gilmore and Leunberger starting and they are both 2nd string ruckman.Youll get bugger all out of both of them
Forward line is half decent though and thats about all you can hang your hat on

hello all,
i would like 2 ask this question as my head is running rings around itself!

im downgrading dal santo coz i feel an earlier post was correct about his prcie dropping a little early

so dal santo 4 (keeping in mind i already hav judd)....mitchell, burgoyne, cross or hayes?

And is corey jones a good 4th FWD....after brown, B.johnson and S. Johnson?
