Good to see West Coast using the original 1987 jumper this weekend.

I hope it beocmes our away strip with the current away strip becoming our new home jumper.

Its nice to see it as it brings back memories but I still prefer the one thats predominately blue.

Yeah I prefer the blue guernsey aswell, I seen Gardy modelling the 87 guernsey last night on Fox footy should be interesting to watch because I was only one when we wore that back then.

it's great to see. i was disappointed when we didn't participate in heritage week last year.

i don't think it should our any jumper though. i am quite happy with both our jumpers at the moment.

Totally agree with you, Uncle Tony! ;)

What about the yellow shorts aswell with the Original 1987 Jumper?

Weren't they horrible!

I'm not a fan of the yellow jumper. It's hideously ugly. So ugly in fact I think it should be permanently swept under the carpet.

If the AFL made all teams have different home and away strips, i'd be happy with using the original as our alternate.

...but its not something i'd push for.

Playin in the '92 jumper (royal blue shorts) at home and the original '87 jumper away (white shorts) would work. Also works well with swapping for clashes (eg. vs Hawks and Bulldogs).

Certainly both the '92 and '87 jumpers are better than the current home jumper.

Very difficult to say. Maybe Subiaco because we share the same ground but probably East Perth because of the host club alignment and because they were once called the Eagles (apparently).

I like the current home jumper!

I think we should only pull the 87 guernsey out of storage every now & then when the occasion calls for it i'm probably against using every 2nd wk.

I'm happy with our current guernseys.

Thoroughly disagree. I love the current home jumper, however I think it should be our away jumper for 3 reasons.

1) The home jumper should have more tradition attached to it. I like the home jumper having links to our past.

2) The current home jumper actually looks really good with white shorts, unlike any of our others (the royal blue looks far better with the blue shorts)

3) The current home jumper with white shorts doesn't really clash with anyone (we don't have the current Bulldogs in Melbourne problem)

Seems to make sense to me.

The yellow (with the current logo) would make a good clash jumper for the odd occasion we'd need it.

CIn my mind probably Claremont. They have virtually the state colours (that Navy is almost black) and we did get a fair few players from them. It could be our tribute to Greg Harding and Trent Carroll.

Still plenty of time to build tradition. Using the royal blue as our main jumper is taking a step backwards. A few more years with navy and we'll be looking back think navy is our traditional colour.

Navy looks better than royal, fullstop. People can disagree and jump up and down about opinion this and opinion that, but the fact is that navy is a popular colour for clothing in any era whereas royal even struggled to be popular in the gaudy 80s.

One more thing: we no longer have a 'home' jumper and an 'away' jumper as such. We have a regular jumper (navy) and a clash jumper (royal).

2) The current home jumper actually looks really good with white shorts, unlike any of our others (the royal blue looks far better with the blue shorts)
It looks ok, but looks nowhere near as good as Carlton, Melbourne, Essendon, Richmond, or Collingwoods. The traditional and simple jumper designs look so much better.

As for matching with shorts? I agree, but at the cost of having the royal jumper as our main jumper makes it nowhere near worth it.

3) The current home jumper with white shorts doesn't really clash with anyone (we don't have the current Bulldogs in Melbourne problem)
I repeat: navy much more easy on the eye than royal.

Makes sense, just doesn't take taste into account.

Let's just hope we never go there. The royal blue jumper should be sufficient for any jumper clashes.

At some stage (maybe 50s?) the Tigers used a jumper that was similar to Melbourne's current jumper but replacing the red with gold. Looked great in some old photos I've seen and would look good for a heritage jumper. In fact I think the Eagles should adopt it for their main jumper. We'd definitely have one of the best jumpers in the league then.

Agreed whole heartedly. I much preferred he navy jumper we launched in about 96 - would take that on tomorrow. However popular opinion in Perth doesn't seem to support that.

I still like our currnet home jumper (I'm guessing you don't). I think it has a place, and I think away is the place for it.

IMO clash jumpers should generally be a reversal of the current jumper. It works in every case (exept Nth Melb V Geelong).

Was that the one you used to have as your avatar?

I did like it!!!

Great for a heritage round.

That was it. Mr Eagle did it up for me. Is a good classic footy jumper and would be good if the Eagles took it on for a few years and monitored what the fans thought. I think we need to build a traditional jumper and the one we're talking about and the navy/gold wings are the onlt two that I think are good enough.

I thought they did a poll and it came out on top with the premiership jumpers coming second?

I don't mind it, but I just think it could be better. I prefer traditional or 'classic' designs.

It does work, but the trade off is we have to wear a yellow jumper. Not worth it. The royal blue works for any clashes well enough.

I remember that jumper in your avatar, it's a good classic style footy jumper but I don't think we should ever look outside the West Coast Eagles for our heritage. We are our own club.
