What a star :thumbsu:

Videos like this just make me miss how football used to be played. The umpires let the game go and were hardly seen except to pay the obvious free kicks. I'm not saying modern football is bad, but it can't compare or compete with previous decades.

Made me miss watching a gun team run around in the red and black.

Does anyone else miss big Petey Somerville?........ Anyone?....

for memory doolan got nearly 40 possies this game..thats more than his whole career up to that day combined!

some actually had a good year that year..it was when the gloves came out and he actually took a few overhead marks...he got 13 brownlow votes or something...then went back to dropping chest marks after that

rememeber he kicked 7 against melbourne one day?

You having a laugh?

40 touches? Got 25, averaged just under 20 for the season. Highest ever was actually against WC... but it was in 1992 when playing for Sydney.

Somerville kicked 5 once, but never 7, and he got those 12 votes the year before.

I was on the Ponsford that day.

Probably the best game I ever saw Hird play, he was magic.

Really miss having a gun like that in our colours.

Ohhhh thanks for posting that Rig, sent tingles down my spine that trip down memory lane. Look at the passion, that feeling of certainty and invincibility, look at the crowd and how it unites as one and bleeds for it's club.
I hope in the not too distant future we can see very similar stuff.

How good was the Hardwick and Cousins biff? reckon they had a laugh about that when Hardwick was coaching Cousins last year? haha

It makes me wish we had as much grunt in the midfield now as we did then, those players bled for each other, look at those link up plays and accurate kicking, perfect sheparding and ruthless tackling.

It reminds me as to why I always wanted to moved to Melbourne when I was a kid, I knew everything about every one of those players and most of the others in the league and I was only about 10!

Get here brah!

Nothing better than being able to see the Dons play 18+ weeks a year.

Still remember being at that game (played Auskick at half time) and the waving of scarves starting with about 10 minutes to go and just the whole crowd doing it until the end. Great moment for the club.
