I don't know about you, but my whole arms and legs were absolutely numb when the siren sounded. The entire rows of people around me stood up as one when Sampi marked the ball, as everyone knew that there was seconds to go.

I don't think I've ever cheered louder for any Eagles game before (voice was very croaky last night).

Due to work, I only caught the last 15mins of the game on radio. We were down by 12 pts, made a comeback, then dropped back by 13pts again, and I thought we were gone. When Sampi too that mark I jumped outta my seat with joy. I couldn't believe we made it back from that far down. So I was happy when the siren went.

Took a few minutes for the disappointment to sink in.

I was shouting so loud when Sampi took that mark.

Something along the lines of "SAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMPPPIIIIIIII YOU BLOODY BEAUTY!!! .... *siren* ... OOHHHHHH MYY GOD!!!!!"

I must say that when he kicked the goal, I was very very happy and so excited, but then I realised it was only a draw. But I was still very happy.

I felt we had got away with murder.

That was our worst performance under Worsfold by far, especially after I thought the first quarter and a bit was some of our best football we had played this year, then we fell in a complete heap for some reason.

I was in a complete frenzy. I had shouted at all the quitters, doubters, moaners, chardonnay-sipping theatregoers who had strayed into my area that the game was not over. Screaming support at all times - I was shouting things like "Belief! and Never give up!"

As the ball was kicked by Embley, I knew there could only be seconds to go - I saw the ball falling into Luke Power's arms a split second too late the previous night and when Sampi flew and marked, I went ballistic. As the siren went, someone said - "he's got to kick it yet". And so I just sat down in an unnatural calm and watched the Doggies jump up and down. I then looked at the crowd - they went up. I stayed calm - then the goal umpire indicated a goal and I celebrated with my kids. I then looked at the Bulldogs on the ground and felt sympathy for what was a marvellous performance.

We had snatched 2 points where there were none and remained unbeaten at home. I was happy and still am, even though I'd have preferred 4.

To be honest ... it was the best game of live football I've ever seen. Even though we didn't win, it was very exciting.

Even though it was a draw, the crowd were celebrating as if we won. I guess everyone realised that we salvaged something from nowhere after looking the goods for a quarter and a half.

It was strange not to hear any club song at the end too. They should have played the National Anthem or something.

On TV after Sampi took the mark the crowd was going mental, and I could almost feel the tension myslef. Having been to so many games at Subi I know what it's like not to know how much time is left, and it just adds to the excitement. When the siren when there was a very audible "awwwwww" from the crowd, as if to say "damn and **** it we've missed a win"

I was relieved at the fact we didnt lose, but ****ed off that we didnt win.

I was rapt. We didn't deserve the 2 points, but I'll gladly take them - they might come in handy come September when we start talking home finals etc. :)

I was extremely happy. I HATE to lose and we looked absolutely gone when we were down by 13 with barely 2 minutes remaining. So to come back and salvage something from an absolutely shocking game was certainly something to celebrate IMO.

I would have been really annoyed with the result had the Doggies not played so well. But because they played great footy and we still came out with a draw after looking pretty awful at times, I suppose is a bonus.

The ironic thing is in the end we're the ones treating it as a win, whereas the dogs are treating it as a loss.

If we knew it was going to be a draw midway through last week, we would've been very disapointed.

But we played sh1t and didn't get done which is a good thing. Bob Simpson used to say "the sign of a good batsmen is one who may go out there and not be timing the ball or hitting the ball well on the day, but still manages to etch out a half century or a ton"

And I still think we've gone no where near our best and we're sitting in third - we could be very dangerous once we get ourselves to our best. Even this year, let alone in future years.

Some good points. Im more worried that the team will start fading out in the second half of the season. (ala 1999). The team is still pretty young and to sustain that kind of intensity for a whole season may be pretty hard on them

To be honest, it was disappointment that we wouldn't be coming away with the 4 points and that if we got 2 it probably wouldnt mean much come the end of the year. Still wanted to see Sampi kick the goal but I couldnt understand why the crowd went nuts after he kicked it.

A lost opportunity.

exactly, good teams do not let 30 point leads in the second term slip.

i felt a bit downcast we didnt win, the draw didnt do much to ease any ill-feelings towards the way we played in the second half.

If it was anything like what I was feeling, it was the sheer relief of salvaging two points.

Someone else summed it up well when they described it as a 'moral' victory and nothing more. I suspect that by the end of the year those 2 points won't mean alot, or rather those 2 extra points we SHOULD have had will come back to haunt us.

Two minutes beforehand I just felt 'cheated'

Of course the last two minutes were exciting and the Sampi goal brought a great cheer from all Eagles fans, but a few minutes later I still had that gut feel that we were cheated.

And watching it on TV I just had to agree with myself.

Nervous! Everyone was cheering but we were still a goal down. Relieved when Sampi kicked it but disappointed in the end. Malthouse's comment from 1990 v Collingwood rang through my head, "We came here to win and we didn't."

Everyone around me was going off their heads but I just stayed seated. Don't know why. Maybe the energy of cheering my throat dry wore me out but even though I was relieved Samps kicked the goal and we stole 2 points I couldn't shake the sense of failing to beat the bottom placed team. Having said that it was a truly great game of footy.

Something else I couldn't fathom was a bunch of blokes after the game, outside the ground, ripping into a bloke with a bulldogs scarf. Sure we like a bit of verbal joust but these guys were on the verge of getting violent. I reckon that's a bit rich when a) your team didn't win b) the other team (belying their reputation) didn't play dirty and c) both teams gave us a great game of footy.

Anyway, memorable afternoon that one .

I was sitting behind goals when Sampi took the mark and jumped to my feet. My little mate Sampi was to kick the goal to draw. I kept saying to the kids it was a draw from there on, but will admit 2.5 mins before I was saying we had lost and was watching some of the supporters start to leave.

The thing is, if they stayed, they would have seen a draw from the jaws of defeat.
