Do we throw in the towel and play kids or we play our best 22 available and try to make finals?

Play the Players who have played well in the VFL.

Results do not matter anymore.

We Might Beat GWS but we will get Destroyed by the Hawks

We would have been destroyed by the hawks with our best 22 in TBH but I agree, results this year are secondary.

I don’t think we we be Destroyed if we had our best side out there.

We would push them all the way but fall tad short

People underestimating GWS. They are a good side. Shaw will have a point to prove and we have been appalling on the road except for round 2.

50/50 game but id lean towards GWS by 11.

With our Best Players out and Hearing what Tooves said on the sunday footy show. They club and players have Given up on 2014

Given the injuries I think playing the kids is the same as playing best 22 at the moment. Think Gault may even come in to consideration if Reid and Cloke are both out. I would play Gault before Lynch at this point.

Agree - Lynch is slow as and no longer plays in the Ruck. Gault can do that and he Dominated in the Ruck in last qtr yesterday

Even if we somehow made the finals by a hair, we'd have zero chance of getting anywhere near the GF. Get some game time into the kids IMO.

Play for the jumper for once. OH and I would like to see plan B, C, and D if Bucks has them....

Players don’t do that anymore.

They play for there Mates and $$$

Dave....did Tooves actually say those words "I've given up.... or we've given up?"
That is really insulting Dave.

Did you see Goldy getting up two or three times yesterday? He could hardly stand but he kept getting up. Did you see Clokey trying to tackle and block as he was limping off the ground? Did you see Ben Reid almost crying in the dug out, he's so frustrated being injured and not being able to help his mates. Dave you can rant on about umpires or the AFL execs if you want, you can make outlandish statements about recruiting or coaching or sports physiology if you want but don't you ever question the courage or the commitment of AFL players (particularly ours)

Does this look like the sort of guy that would give up?

Blokes that play AFL aren't like the blokes you might meet in the stands Dave. They've made the commitment to train themselves to the brink of endurance, strength and pain. They're used to dealing with adversity and they don't buckle under pressure like most of the critics that like to "pot them" from the stands or from behind their keyboards.

CFC doesn't give up. We might get beaten by a better side on a given day but it's an honourable defeat. You do what you can to try and achieve a result, sometimes it's enough and other times it's not.

Go Pies.

I don't necessarily think we should "play kids", and I still think we should still try to win each game - but, I just think we need to look hard at everyone's fitness, and given that the chances of making the finals are slim (but not impossible) I would use this as an opportunity to get an extra 2 weeks of off-season work into anyone carrying an injury- and depending on who needs a break - that might be an opportunity to give more kids a game.

You have no idea what some of these players go thru to get up for games or to get back from injury- 'play for the jumper for once' really.

As to game plans, if muppets like you and me can tell what our game plan is, let alone notice the difference between a B, C or D then we are in trouble. You wouldn't know what our game plan was if it popped up in your cornflakes and said 'I am your game plan'- let alone make head or tail of a different one.

How do we play the last 2 weeks?

The same we have been all season and for 3 years now.

With no game plan and with a lack of skill level and decision making.

We've had kids playing for 3 years though. Staggering people haven't noticed.

We were the youngest premiership side in modern history with an average age of like 23.

We were already a young side.

Sure, we have exposed some quality kids like Kennedy, Broomhead, Elliott, Grundy and still have Scharenberg in the wings.

Yet that is no excuse for a club like ours. All of our superstars are still entering their peak years. Pendlebury, Beams, Sidebottom, Cloke, Reid (when injury free).

IMO, we got rid of too many quality players too soon and have not replaced them with decent cover. Sure Daisy, Wellingham, Dawes and Shaw all had to go for different reasons and we cashed in on them well but we should have retained Davis and Didak. They left too soon. Both would still be playing (even if it were bit roles right now). Quality ball users, quality decision makers, pure class with the football at both ends of the ground or both up forward really.

We retained names like Blair, Macaffer and Lumumba- guys who have gone missing since 2010 and to make matters worse- extended their contracts recently. Appalling list management. Blair tries hard but has no impact, Macaffer wastes midfield minutes and cant execute simple disposals of the footy not to mention he is as slow as they come with no agility whatsoever and Lumumba hasn't kicked a drop punt since 2010.

agreed. Lumumba is a shell of his 2010 self.
