As a uni student I have heaps of time on my hands, more than enough time to hit the gym 3-4 times a week, socialise, see family and get as much bigfooty time in as I want :D .

But next year I join the real world  . This means working five days a week with anywhere from 40-65 hour weeks depending on the time of year. Now I am a little concerned that due to these long working hours my ability to hit the gym a reasonable amount each year while maintaining a social life and BIGFOOTY!.

To compound matters what happens when I have a family  , then its work, kids, gym, social life and BIGFOOTY!

To those at the second two stages in life how do you maintain a balance and what is your "time assigned" to each, plan?

I usually get up at 6:45 and get on the bike and ride to work. That cuts off 20 minutes travelling time and get a a decent 25 minutes cardio rush. Shower at work, start at 8. Leave at 5. Have footy training some nights, go swimming and riding other nights. If I swim, I ride from work straight to the pool which means I'm not wasting time riding home first. When I swim, I'm usually home by 6:30.

I know what you mean about time for everything though. I don't have a faimly yet, so I don't have extra committments like those. It means I have to sacrifice things. I usually only see friends on weekends and maybe one night of the week as I couldn't afford to go out all the time.

As for Bigfooty...I should be working now!

My day

6.30 - shower and get dressed
7.00 - go on Big Footy while eating breakfast
7.15 - leave for work
4.30 - arrive home and do housework
5.00 - gym
6.30 - dinner
7.00 - tv
9.00 - internet
10.00 - read in bed
11.00 - go to sleep

Being single I guess makes it easier. But then again if I had a partner there would be someone to share the housework. Also being a teacher I get to look after kids all day. When I get home it is my time.

Work 80-90 hour weeks most of the time, although manage to squeeze in the odd BF session ;) What I do is each day I get up at 5am and have a timetable for the day broken into 30 hour slots. I write what I want to do in each one and do my best to stick to it. Before I goto bed (usually 1am sometimes a tad after) I will evaluate how each slot went, giving it a mark out of 5. Idea is to boost your number of points etc.. you get the drift. Also drink a lot of coffee and too much alcohol. Eating well is important as well.

Shouldn't be you somewhere? ;)

I'm in the NT so I'm an hour and half behind. Well, in reality ten years behind. But you're right I should have been doing my housework.

Ive worked for a few years, now ive gone back to study but i still have time to pump weights.
This year i started getting up early and doing a quick bike ride before going to work, but after work/school i come home, chill for a bit and have creatine. Then hit the gym for an hour, maybe hour and a half, come home have a protein drink, shower, then about half hour later its tea.

It can get tiring and sometimes im knackered by the weekend, but sleep is a bit of a key, if you get enough of that you wont burn out of energy.

you'll probably have to stop being our mod sabre :( but if in an office like most peolple you shoudl be able to fit in a little bit of posting ;)

Time management is the key. I'm sure you'll find enough time throughout the day to cover what is important to you. If not, then as Appleyard said, sleep less!!
