How Loyal Would You Be

If your club had as little success as the Tigers had over the last 25+ years how long would it have taken you to jump ship. I ask this on the back of Caro's comment of Footy Classified where she mentioned Tigers fans are the most loyal.

Is this only aimed at Tiges fans?

There have been much worse teams than us over longer periods of time ie:St.Kilda and WB.

They still had success in that time like Grand Final appearances, finals appearances etc.

Richmond, over the last generation of people, are the least performing team in the competition.

I'll bet there are a bunch of Tiger supporters who have jumped ship and started barracking for other clubs, but those of us who are left probably are the most loyal supporters. That also means that other clubs have yet to be tested on the same level we have.

Richo has kept a lot of us coming back over the last 13 years. No wonder we love him so much :thumbsu:

No it is aimed at suppoters of other clubs who I noticed making comments after Caro called us the most loyal. That was whyI wanted fans of other clubs to vote. It would be interesting to see just how long they would give the club if they were constantly missing finals before they said enough was enough.

The reality is they will never know and nor will we. We are only referred to as 'most loyal' because we support the club despite its diabolical performances, there are other clubs which would still have the same following after years of shit.

Try being a Swans supporter..72 years between premierships, if that doesn't test loyalty nothing will.

Correct. We didn't win a SINGLE final between 1945 and 1996. Richmond have nothing on us.

No you're wrong, it isn't a simple matter of winning premierships. It's about complete utter mediocrity to the point where you have one of the worst teams in the comp for 25 years and only make the finals twice. You guys made the finals more than twice in that time didn't you? And I bet you made a couple of grand finals too right?

Richmond have lost more games over the past 25 years than any other club. THAT is suffering.

Suffering isn't finishing top 4 and missing out on a flag.

Suffering is losing week in week out for 25 years.

Glad to have 2 85 year old Swans supporters on board. However given the I would place you both in the 20-35 age bracket you guys have witnessed you club play in 2-3 GF over your life time as have I but the fact that I have not seen my side do anything like that in 25 years I think we are in a better position to talk about faliure and how long you would stay loyal.

Hmm..

Being a Richmond supporter, I will be for ever, but I am starting to develop soft spots for Port Adelaide and fremantle.

I don't really know why though..

A bunch of people arguing that their team is harder to support...

If i didn't barrack for Geelong I'd laugh at you all.

True I have seen 3 Swans GF's in recent years, but prior to 1996 finals appearances were very few and far between, and also seen consecutive wooden spoon season where winning a game was like winning a grand final.

I'm lucky I support a team that has won 4 flags in my lifetime. However, in the NRL I supported the North Sydney Bears who did not win a premiership from 1922 to the time they folded in 1999. However there was no way I could support any other team and I don't follow the NRL now because I couldn't support another team.

Imagine what it will be like if the Tigers do crack it for a flag. Conversely imagine what it would feel like if they won a flag and you had abandoned ship.

Exactly, as long as there's still fight it's hard to not support "your team".

And even the casual fans who gave up on them would come back if we were successful again.
