How many weeks for Mackay?

lol, Mackay did not even need to protect himself. Clark never saw him coming unlike Lynch on Viney and Clark was not bracing so Mackay could have gone softer on Clark with the same contested effect. After Mackay's effort he still did not win the ball did he

Can we stop pretending Clark was stationary? If Clark chose not to protect himself in the contest that is on him.

Everyone's drinking this AFL kood aid. It's nonsense.

Leading with the head means driving in to a pack or in to a tackler, it doesn't mean attacking the ball straight on with your head over it. Which is still the basis of getting the footy anywhere on the ground.

AFL players are taught to put their body between opponents and the ball when they've got a choice on how to attack, smart players in marking or ground balls will gently bump then get the ball, but I've never seen a drill that involves running at a ball like Clark is and having to turn sideways. It simply doesn't work, for one, how are you meant to pick it up with your arms out to the same side that you're about to make contact with? Please explain how the drill works to even teach this? Do you place the ball below a bump bag and have players run in to it with their arms outstretched?

If Clark had done the same technique as Mackay then they would've still bumped at a huge force, neither of them would've had any chance of getting the ball and there's still every chance one of there shoulders hits the others head.

Clark had his eyes on the ball, went purely for it and was first to it. Because of the slide rule neither he nor Mackay could take evasive action by going to ground, so Mackay went for the AFL approved rubbish of turning sideways and hoping for the best. The AFL have failed both of them and might end up punishing both of them.
The new phase with leading with head was after any contact with the head was a free. You turn your body so it gets first contact not head.

Has Jeff Gleeson ever played a game of footy in his life?

"He says Clark didn't protect himself because no reasonable player would have expected that sort of collision...
Gleeson says Mackay's evidence that he always thought he would get to the ball first should be disregarded"

What an absolute utensil

Is the AFL actually trying to do a bad job? Genuine question.
I actually have a theory about that.

They're all about making the game as controversial as possible, thereby promoting as much media attention and as many water cooler debates as possible.

Unfortunately it is all at the expense of professionalism, integrity and commonsense.

I saw someone post on the North board that at one point Mackay was about 10cm closer to the ball than Clark was 10m before the incident... so that rationale is factually incorrect.

I mentioned this before on the other thread, at the point of impact, Mackay still had a limp arm dangling out, trying to grab the footy. If he was intending to bump, then his arm needed to stiffen with a fully flexed right elbow.
Agree
He isn’t even bracing for the contact
Shoulder is down and arm straight
Nothing in his body suggests he was going for a bump

Chris Judd, score differentials and fake hand movements. That's your case??
Just saying. Chris Judd was one of the fastest blokes going into and out of a contest.
To say Mackay at that speed was going for the ball is laughable. If he had of stayed out of the contest the crows player following could have tackled Clark once he took possession.

Just for clarity for anyone who doesn’t understand football on this thread, this isn’t an act of a bump by Mackay, but him still trying to grab at the ball (at the point of impact).
